Florida: The Land That Time Forgot
Florida: The Land That Time Forgot
So much of what I create and who I am stems from childhood.

My entire love of photography started with a stereopticon.
O.K. not the turn of the century ones that you put the big double photo cards in.
Mine was the 1970s version.
The View Masterwas this sort of pair of plastic binoculars that you…

A brief tour of Cedar Key and the original Cedar Key; Atsena Otie Key in photographs.
Pelican on a Pylon by Morgan H. Lee
Cedar Key is one of my most coveted Florida secrets. When Keys in Florida are mentioned, most think immediately of Key West. A favorite Florida tourist destination. Even among Floridians. But there is another set of keys.
Here lies Cedar Key
Far to the North approaching the Florida Panhandle miles across a land bridge lays a rustic fishing village…

https://flic.kr/p/23XeB8n My big 1950s lots-of-metal Kiev 6c on my big 1960s lots-of-metal tripod = lots and lots of metal
Bring me something different. That’s what I wanted from my next camera. I love digital photography. A lot of my best work was with digital. But I felt like I had taken it as far as I could go. I missed the creativity of film.

Artistic Inspirations I: Pictorialism
Artistic Inspirations I: Pictorialism
Early Morn by Alfred Stieglitz
The most important thing to me as a photographer/artist now is to try to develop a “look” or “style. Looking back (and inward) I realize a lot of images that move and engage me have a soft “dream-like” quality.

The Only Thing You Need to do to be a Fine Art Photographer
The Only Thing You Need to do to be a Fine Art Photographer
In the past 11 years I have made mistakes, more mistakes, unprofessional faux pas, had lots of failures and, peppered in there, a couple of enormous successes followed by not following through like I should have which was, well, just another mistake on top of a huge pile of mistakes.

The good news is, I learned a lot. Right here, right now, I share with you the most…

Mount Dora Candy Store
That is one Fiiiiine looking train you got there Lake County! Still shot on film with my Kiev 6C, this one could only be in color. I could not justify photographing the The Royal Palm Railway Experience's beautiful purple locomotive in black and white. So happy to hear the sound of a train downtown again.
Elizabeth Evans Park Bench
This quiet spot is more the Mount Dora insider's place to watch the sun set over Lake Dora than the more popular Light House and Lakeside Inn.
Working a lot with my old Russian film camera. Learning to control all those cool looks and moods I can get with nothing else instead of just having "happy accidents". It's a lot of work but I'm loving it. This is one of the first shots that came out how I envisioned it. Finally at a point where I'll be sharing a lot soon. ~Morgan
My final slideshow for quite a while. This video features the small historic spot turned fishing and clam farming village Cedar Key: A jewel in the crown of Florida's best kept secrets. Next weekend (I hope! Need to put some serious work into shooting and editing) I will 180 the YouTube camera to focus more on me and my process of seriously becoming a fine art photographer. Thank you to everyone who has supported this whole thing so far.

Do you like Mermaids? Florida is home to some of the best mermaids in in the world right here at our own Weeki Wachee Springs. A roadside attraction and tourist draw years before a certain mouse took up residence here. This is a slideshow featuring my photographs of these beautiful underwater performers.
A slideshow featuring my fine art photography depicting a weekend in Saint Augustine. The music, arranged and performed by me as well, is a variation on an old African American spiritual "Roll the Old Chariot Along". The shanty was adopted by sailors who sang it while doing their laborious and monotonous tasks on long sea voyages. The photographs themselves were actually taken over the course of several years with several different cameras and mediums including digital, black and white film, and color film.
Introducing Real Florida Photo! Featuring the fine art photography of Morgan H. Lee. This trailer introduces my weekly photography series. All photography and music by Morgan H. Lee.

Eustis Heron
Another photograph with my big Russian camera, the kiev 6c. It’s shot on medium format film which makes a picture almost four times larger (and more detailed) than regular film. This 14′ tall sculpture by artist Doug Hays, is instantly recognized as the town of Eustis.
Mount Dora Friday Night
It’s a lot of fun learning my way around my big Russian film camera the Kiev 6C. Switching not only over to film but to medium format film makes photography feel new again. Plus, no digital editing, the shot either works as it was taken or it doesn’t. It’s a huge learning curve and the process is slow but I love creating in new ways.
