ââI raised five children. I know that kids do stuff and that you have no idea of whatâs going on. Do I wish that they had intervened? Do I wish that they had been able to discover what was in the hearts and minds [of these boys]? Of course. She does more than I do even, probably because theyâve had the stigma of being the parents of the shooters, the bad guys. Where I got celebrated for the life of Rachel they got ostracized and hated for what happened. But they lost a son that day, too. So I donât have hatred for these parents. I have compassion. It could have been reversed.â Â
Beth revealed how, immediately after the shooting, Sue Klebold wrote a heartfelt letter of apology to the family of each victim. She reached out and Beth reciprocated. Just two weeks after the massacre the two planned to meet but when the media caught wind of the fact that two mothers from opposite sides of the trauma were to meet they abandoned the venture.
 Now, Beth has revealed, that the meeting did take place, several months later and in secret.
Recalling that extraordinary day Beth said: âShe was just as fearful of meeting me as I was of her. I didnât know what I was going to say to her. This was the mother of one of the boys who shot my daughter. I asked the Lord what would you have me say to this woman? I have no idea.â But when the moment came Beth had clarity. She said; 'What I felt prompted to ask was, âSue, will you tell me who your little boy was before April 20, 1999?â And tears just rolled down her face and she started telling me about this precious little blond, curly haired boy that they loved and cherished just as much as I loved and cherished my little Rachel.'â - Beth Nimmo (Rachel Scottâs Mother)
