We first met through the story “Wedding Plans” on ao3. Your stories are so heartwarming. I last heard from you in November 2025, and since then, I’ve had no news of you. Are you still around?😳

Hey,

I appreciate you sending me a message and enjoying my stories. I’m still around I just switched my focus to my real life. My work had over ten people quit in the past year and they are not getting replaced quick enough so my hours have been longer and more stressful. I work in healthcare, so afterwards I am emotionally and physically drained and don’t have a lot of mental energy to write or keep up with the fandom. Then keeping up with family. My partner’s grandma has dementia so I’ve been helping with her since I’m one of the few people she will cooperate with for bathing and doctor visits.

I have every intention of finishing “Wedding Plans”. I have ~8k words for the last chapter, but it seems lackluster compared to the rest of the story. Granted that’s probably me being hypercritical of my work and low self esteem. I apologize for the delay.

Drabble for Wedding Plans

“Babe,” Kannon said, grabbing Obanai’s pant leg. Obanai glanced down as the little boy raised his arms indicating he wanted up. He lifted the boy, so he could scan the crowd. They were celebrating the birth of the second born Uzui, Haruma. He was the exact opposite of Kannon with his stark white hair and yellow-brown eyes. Makio was holding him in the center of the Uzui’s living room with Tengen’s hand over her waist.  

“Do you think he’ll ever grow out of calling you that?” Sanemi asked, gesturing to Kannon with his glass. 

“Not with Tengen telling him to do it. Suma too,” Obanai said with a sigh. “It’s fine, I’ll teach him how to pick locks. Then he can be a menace for Tengen.” Sanemi shook his head before taking a drink of his soda. 

“Just don’t teach my kids,” Sanemi said. Obanai glanced over at Kanae standing beside Mitsuri, Gyomei, Suma, and Kyojuro. Two weeks ago Kanae and Sanemi announced she was due to have twin boys in late January. Mitsuri was already preparing for her friend’s baby shower. The theme was going to be ‘Beetles in the Garden’.

“Isn’t that your job?” Obanai questioned. “Oh right, I should teach them how to read a map.” Obanai smirked at his friend. Sanemi narrowed his gaze. His sense of direction would always be a sore spot. 

“Whatever,” Sanemi scoffed.

Just wanted to say I’ve been reading Wedding Plans and I absolutely love it! (Late to reading it lol) I wish it was made into an actual book that’s how good it is!

That’s the highest compliment! Thank you so much! It’s been fun to write especially the beginning chapters. Once I’m finished I plan on editing it and then bookbinding it 🩷 though I have to figure how to do that 😅

One thing I absolutely love about shipping about a couple is regardless of whatever their characters are or whoever they are, you'd be still able to find various stories about them to read on online.

I mean what do you mean I can read a story about those characters becoming a couple with Canon complain plot in the morning.

Then them being in a fake relationship which slowly becomes real yet they are being utter idiots to understand that in the afternoon.

Then reading about them being Teachers or professors and falling in love in the evening.

Or just any of the utterly unhinged shits you can find to ever write about and we can read that story being about them still with all thier attributes intact is FREAKING AMAZING 👏👏👏👏👏🥲🥲🥲🤧😭😭💓😫

I wish this would happen. From the manga I know he catches her, but it’d be nice to see it the other way around. Maybe Mitsuri will save him from being cut down by Nakime and he’ll get star struck.

the fact that obanai would've been content taking his love for mitsuri with him to the grave, and for his feelings to never be reciprocated until mitsuri talked about herself negatively and he simply couldn't bear the idea that she might die not knowing how loved and important she is so he spilled his guts and outed his love for her, not for his benefit, but so he can save and comfort her in her last moments, the way she had done for him ever since they me

I wrote an Obanai Drabble while ao3 was down.

His heart pulsed rapidly with every stride. He’d never been allowed to run freely or roam the ground outside of his cage. Now, his muscles ached from exhaustion, every fiber twitching unaccustomed to exercise. 

I just have to get past the hill. 

The young boy forced himself to keep running. Dirt, rocks, and the grass dug into his bare feet, rubbing them raw with each step. The bandages around his face threatened to fall, ripping off the tender flesh across his cheeks. Everything hurt, but he had to keep going otherwise- 

‘She’s here,’ Kaburamaru hissed loudly in warning. The dark haired boy’s eyes widened. He glanced back and could see a bronze blur closing the distance between them. Blood pounded in his ears. His body betrayed him as his foot caught on a fallen branch. He pushed off his hands to stand up in an effort to scramble away. Fingernails grazed over his scalp before he felt his hair being pulled up. 

“Did you think you could get away?” The snake demon asked. Her voice taunted him, licked with venom and malice. It was all the same to him. He’d never known any other way of living. He swallowed drily as he scratched aimlessly at the ground. It was pointless as she lifted him off the meadow’s floor. 

I’ll never escape. 

Pain rippled over the back of his scalp as the demon forced him to look at her disgusting face. Bulbous, putrid amber eyes with slit like pupils. She licked her lips with a split tongue. Another marker for her monstrous form along with the gaping mouth. One that he now shared with her. One that was forced upon him. How fitting it seemed for the first time he decided his own fate would also be his last.

The demon opened her maw, her jaw expanding past what should have been possible. It smelled of blood and scented oils his family wore. Nausea gripped his insides. The boy shut his eyes. 

This was it. He would die before his life ever started. 

“Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation,” someone shouted behind the boy. The demon dropped him as she turned to face the intruder. The boy opened his eyes. A person with yellow and red hair charged with a crimson sword raised. She hissed and prepared herself for an attack, but she was too slow. Within seconds the sword slashed through the demon multiple times. 

His chest seized as he scooted away from the scene. The demon’s flesh disintegrated to ash midair, landing on his face and chest. What was happening? Who was this man? Where had he come from? Why-

“Are you alright, boy?” The yellow and red haired person asked. He tried to answer, but the incisions along his cheeks started to crack, dribbles of blood trailed down his face. Instead he nodded that he was and pointed to the bloody bandages. “What the hell did they do to you?” He asked, approaching with a grim expression. He knelt down and examined the boy’s face. His lip formed a thin line. “Can you write?” 

The boy nodded again. His aunt taught him. She said it was her duty to educate the only son in the clan, so he could carry on the clan’s name. What a filthy lie. 

“What is your name? I’m Rengoku Shinjuro,” said the man. He repositioned to give the boy space to write in the dirt. 

‘Iguro Obanai.’ He wrote.

Idk if you've ever been asked before but in wedding plans when Obanai and Mitsuri first met do you have any specific references/ideas of the clothes they were wearing?

I have not been asked this! For their first meeting in Wedding Plans, Mitsuri was wearing a mid thigh length bright blue dress and chunky heels.

I was originally going to have it as part of their death scene where Mitsuri said she’d see him again in blue. This would have been a reference to a time he said she’d looked nice in blue, but I decided not to include as it seemed out of place.

As for Obanai, he wore a dark grey shirt with black slacks and a black surgical mask. Plus black boots.
