Max wanted to beg Lucas not to ask his parents, but that was because she didn't know how to accept help. They could rebuild.. -- Their home was obliterated, there was no rebuilding. Without the Sinclair family, who knows what would have happened to her. Her mom was barely home, she would have survived either way. Max -- Max needed them. Max needed him. His mom there when hers wasn't. Taking her in like she was her own daughter. The redhead would miss this when she had to leave. Would miss seeing Lucas every day. How could she get them to let her stay forever? Was that possible?
This wasn't like her, normally she would have avoided it. Changed the subject, maybe even made up some sarcastic remark.-- But it was only the two of them, no one else was around, she could let her guard down. The vulnerability seeping out of her, and she hated it. Max felt this undesirable need to crawl into bed, and hide under her blanket for a few days. Mortified. Red hair falling onto his chest, as she practically hid her face. -- Lucas would never judge her, she knew that, this was just hard for her. Though there was the tiniest part of herself, cowering in the back of her mind that needed to ramble, needed to spill her deepest feelings. It seemed that part was currently winning.
As she felt his body go limp, she grumbled to herself. "What an idiot." She mumbled under her breath. Regretting her decision to open up. Her knees were almost desensitized, the amount of times she fell of her skateboard without pads on. -- Though the warmth of his hand, the circles that he traced there, caused her to smile, almost grin. Which immediately fell when her name left his lips. Causing her to cringe. Body tensing in his arms. Was he upset, disappointed? She said the wrong thing, didn't she? Tilting her head up, as if she could actually see him. "You mean it?" One of her hands moving to trace his jaw. She missed looking at him, seeing him. "Lucas if you tell anyone about this. I will hurt you. I may not be able to see you, but I can still pummel you." Max was only half teasing, she'd never hurt him, but she would really love if this moment of weakness stayed between them.
His words hit her like a ton of bricks. They needed her -- He needed her. Lucas didn't realize what those words meant to her. "Stalker, you sound extremely cheesy." She teased, smiling as he fixed her hair. The hand on his jaw, moved to poke his cheek playfully, before falling back to his chest. Tracing random shapes. "Remind me every now and then? I know I sound needy -- pathetic, but i'm not myself anymore. I'm not sure how to exist." She admitted. Being in a wheelchair was really hindering her. "By the way, i've never been as happy as I am since i've met you. I'm going to miss this when we have to leave." She whispered, shooting him a small smile. "Tell them I said hi the next time you see them? Don't tell them about this, please?"
