MUZAN KIBUTSUJI ICONS
Hello! I'm the anon who sent in the request for the blue spider lily wife. Thank you for making a post. I had another request, if you're willing to do a part two? What if, while Muzan's blood didn't transform her, it activated the flower within her DNA (like an immune response) and caused her to become immortal? And they only find out if she gets attacked (via demon or slayer) and left with what should be fatal wounds but she recovers?
OMG ANON, THIS IDEA IS GOLD. 🔥🔥 YES, YES, YES—IMAGINE THE DRAMA. THE SHOCK. THE CHAOS. I’M SO DOING THIS. 👀
💙 Blue Spider Lily Wife (Part 2): The Immortal Revelation 💙
(aka: Muzan realizing his wife is literally the one thing he’s been searching for.)
🔹 How It Happens 🔹
Muzan and his beloved wife are living in secret, away from the prying eyes of slayers and demons.
He’s possessive but gentle, treating her like the most fragile treasure in existence.
Then, one day, disaster strikes.
⚠️ Attack on Y/N ⚠️
A rogue Demon Slayer manages to track them down.
Y/N is caught in the crossfire—slashed through the chest by a Nichirin blade.
Muzan snaps.
Rips the slayer apart in a fit of rage, blood-soaked and trembling.
Rushes to Y/N’s side.
🔴 But then… something insane happens.
Instead of dying, her wounds start healing.
Her blood thickens into a strange blue hue.
Tissues regenerate before Muzan’s very eyes.
She’s healing. Faster than any demon. Faster than him.
🔬 Muzan’s Reaction
SHOCK. PURE. UTTER. SHOCK.
He’s speechless for the first time in his life.
"This… this is impossible." 😨
His mind is racing.
He’s spent centuries hunting for the Blue Spider Lily.
He tried to force immortality onto himself.
And now, his wife… the woman he cherishes above all else…
She IS the answer.
🔹 The Realization Hits 🔹
Muzan grabs her face, staring into her eyes.
“My love… you are the Blue Spider Lily.” 😨
She has been carrying the rare flower’s dormant genetics all along.
When he gave her his blood, it didn’t turn her into a demon—it activated her true nature.
She is beyond a demon.
She is truly immortal.
🔹 Muzan's Shift in Behavior 🔹
🔴 Possessive Level: MAXIMUM.
If Muzan was overprotective before, it’s NOTHING compared to now.
She is no longer just his wife—she is the key to everything he’s ever desired.
Doesn’t let her out of his sight. Ever.
Any demon who so much as looks at her wrong? DEAD.
Absolutely TERRIFIED of losing her.
She’s not just his love—she’s his salvation.
🔹 But What About Y/N? 🔹
She’s in SHOCK.
She realizes Muzan's obsession with the flower… was always about HER.
The weight of it all is CRUSHING.
She loves him, but she is also scared.
What does this mean for her future?
Will Muzan now love her as a wife… or as a cure?
🔹 Final Scene 🔹
💀 Muzan holds her, eyes dark with obsession.
“You are mine, my love. And now… you will never leave me.”
Y/N’s heart races. She knows this is both a promise and a curse.
She is now Muzan’s most precious treasure…
And his greatest weakness.
✨THE END… OR A NEW BEGINNING? ✨
Hello! I've fallen in love with your posts (esp those featuring Muzan) and wanted to make a request. Could you do a take on Muzan if he fell in love with a young woman and married her, only to discover he couldn't turn her into a demon because she already had blue spider lily in her DNA? She isn't a demon, but her family used the flower to save her life during her mother's pregnancy (like Tangle)?
That’s such a cool and unique idea! Here’s how Muzan would react:
Muzan Falling in Love and Marrying a Woman Who Has Blue Spider Lily in Her DNA
🎭 The Beginning – Unintentional Love
Originally approaches her out of curiosity—her scent is unlike any human he’s encountered.
Assumes she’s just another tool in his pursuit of immortality.
Ends up genuinely captivated by her intelligence, fearlessness, and unique presence.
Finds himself drawn to her warmth in a way he can’t explain.
Conflicted—he shouldn’t care for a human, but he craves her company.
Eventually marries her, believing he has finally found the perfect woman to stand beside him.
🦠 The Failed Transformation – Absolute Shock & Horror
Tries to turn her into a demon… and nothing happens.
At first, believes it’s a mistake—tries multiple times, increasing the dose.
Still no reaction—no sickness, no mutations, nothing.
Panic sets in. Muzan never fails at turning humans.
Conducts extensive tests on her blood, trying to figure out why.
🌿 The Blue Spider Lily Revelation
Discovers her family used the Blue Spider Lily to save her life when her mother had a complicated pregnancy.
The flower is now part of her DNA—she’s immune to demonic transformation.
For the first time in centuries, he’s speechless.
She has the key to his greatest desire within her, but he can’t access it.
Equal parts awe and fury. How is it that the one woman he loves is the one human he cannot turn into a demon?
💀 Love vs. Obsession – The Struggle
Becomes even more obsessed with her, not just as a wife, but as a living secret.
Protects her aggressively—no demon is allowed near her.
Keeps her isolated—his paranoia makes him unwilling to let others discover her secret.
Would rather destroy the world than let someone take her from him.
Torn between cherishing her as his wife and treating her as an experiment.
If she ever tries to leave? He won’t let her. Not because he wants to punish her, but because he can’t afford to lose her.
🖤 His Soft Side – The One Exception
Despite everything, he treats her differently from everyone else.
Never raises his voice at her, no matter how angry he is.
Gives her rare freedoms—walks in the moonlight, access to knowledge, beautiful clothing.
Acts human around her—she’s the only one who sees his rare moments of vulnerability.
Deep down, he knows she is the closest thing he has to a true weakness.
⚠️ The Future – A Dangerous Love
If she offers to help him find more Blue Spider Lilies, he’ll be both grateful and frustrated—it proves she’s willing to stay with him, but also means he still doesn’t have full control.
If she hides information from him, he will be hurt rather than angry.
He would never harm her, but he might resort to manipulation to ensure she remains by his side forever.
Muzan may not fully understand love, but she is the one person he would destroy the world for.
face card is too fine, god made him live 1000 years just to show it off

Li Bing Bing as Ni-Chang, the White-Haired Witch - The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)
Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you don’t like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lol
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and we’d really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what they’re designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanlore’s relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!

Kagura & Kohaku (and Sesshomaru)
I’ve been wanting to do this post for a while, because I think Kagura’s relationship with Kohaku is one of the most significant, and it ties Kagura to Sesshomaru in various ways.
At first, when Kohaku fell under Naraku’s control, Kagura was just the one who transported Kohaku and got him back after a mission. She didn’t really care what happened to him, she just wanted to find a way to be free. But when she realized that Kohaku had regained his memories, she started talking to him and feeling empathy for him. Kohaku was just a child who had been forced to kill his family and who was now a hostage of Naraku, just like her.
And over time, we see that Kagura begins to protect Kohaku. She tells no one that he recovered his memories and on several occasions she lies so that he does not get into trouble. One of the most important episodes for Kohaku is 163, where Kirara, Kohaku and Sango are the main characters and all three remember the time when they lived together in the village of demon slayers. But the fourth most important character there is Kagura. She is present throughout the episode and realizes that Kohaku wants to see his sister, but instead of reporting that to Naraku, Kagura tells Kohaku to take care:
And at the end of the chapter she lies to Hakudoshi telling him that she doesn’t know where Kohaku is.
Like Sesshomaru, Kagura has a learning of compassion and empathy for others and this is reflected in her relationship with Kohaku. I love that, in several openings, she is frequently portrayed next to or in front of Kohaku, as if she were a barrier between the boy and Naraku.
And at the end of the series, it is precisely she who dies saving Kohaku from Naraku. Hakudoshi ordered Kagura to take the fragment from Kohaku, but when the time came, Kagura couldn’t do it. She did not want him to suffer the same fate as her. So she rebelled against Hakudoshi and helped Kohaku escape.
Kagura not only let Kohaku go, she gave him one of her feathers and sent him away, while she stayed behind to fight Hakudoshi.
She knew she couldn’t beat Hakusoshi (Let’s remember that she had already faced him and he almost killed her that time). But still Kagura was willing to sacrifice her life to save Kohaku’s.
She also knew that this represented a betrayal to Naraku and that he would kill her. And that was what finally happened. That is why Naraku killed Kagura. Many of us remember that she died because Naraku pierced her chest and injected poison into her. But Naraku did that because she betrayed him by saving Kohaku.
Kagura died to save Kohaku’s life. And that’s one of the most beautiful things about her character. That shows us the growth she has had as a person, and that she was a brave woman who had a noble and gentle heart.
And Sesshomaru knows this. He finds out that Kagura died saving Kohaku when he is fighting with Moryomaru.
And what does Sesshoumaru end up doing? yes, he ends up caring for and protecting Kohaku. Because that’s one of the ways he’s going to make sure Kagura didn’t die in vain. Sesshomaru will protect the child Kagura gave her life for.
And he will continue to do so, even years after her death:
Yet another AO3 bot situation - please spread the word!
Hi, it's me again, the person who wrote that viral post about fanfiction plagiarism! Today I'm here to warn you about abuse perpetrated by bots who have stolen AO3 usernames.
There's currently an epidemic of bots going around leaving (apparently random) horrible, hateful comments on people's fics. This isn't the first time bots have invaded AO3, but the big problem with this wave is that they're using real AO3 usernames to do it.
I learned about this when another writer contacted me after receiving the following comment on their story:
Now, while that is my username, I DEFINITELY did not leave this comment (and anyone who would leave something like that on a fic should be slapped! What an awful thing to post). This fic is in a completely unrelated fandom that I have never participated in, nor has that author participated in any of my fandoms, so the probability of it being some intentional fandom drama thing to make me look bad is also low.
The writer whose fic the comment was left on enlisted the aid of some friends and tracked down other guest comments with unrelated usernames attached, which is pretty strong evidence that they are being left by bots at random.
The TL;DR: If you receive a cruel comment from a (Guest) with an actual AO3 username attached, it's most likely from a bot. Please do not lash out at or dogpile the AO3 user who owns that name, and who in all likelihood has no idea that their name has been hijacked for evil.
If finding this kind of comment on a fic, even left by a bot, is likely to upset you, I would recommend changing your comment settings so that only users who are logged in can leave comments. To do this, edit your story settings, and under "Privacy," select the radio button that says "Only registered users can comment," as shown below.
Please spread the word to other AO3 users! And if you see mean guest comments on other fics, maybe let the author know that it's probably from a bot and not a real person who thinks their writing is bad.
The Most Beautiful Death In The World - Undertaker
I don’t understand the joke Sebastian was trying to make with that pose. Could someone explain?
When Grell was forgotten
Yuya Matsushita (Sebastian) forgot to introduce to the audience Uehara Takuya (Grell) and introduces Taketo Tanaka (Ciel) instead of him.
Grell is like: «W-wait!.. And w-what about me?!»
Takuya cries and looks very upset because of Matsushita. Look how tender is Shuuhei Izumi (Undertaker) with him at that minute, it’s so lovely. And Matsushita is very confused because of his fault.
Then Takuya tries to kick Matsushita twice. It’s so cute and hilarious! XDDD
And after Takuya made a speech, Matsushita apologizes one more time, but Takuya is like: «I’ll never forgive you, Sebas-chan! It was very rude!»
In conclusion, just look at Teruma (William). He laughs louder than others and looks so hilarious! He enjoys this situation more than anyone else! xD
I just adore Kuro musicals so much! They’re adorable!!!

Furutod vs Sebastyun
Dear @gisellehexen89,
First of all, I am very happy you seem to be enjoying my blog! And thank you for the interesting ask.
I think the best way to find out what ‘Elisabeth’ is is to read up on it, or watch it yourself; it is impossible to explain everything in a post. After having learned what the musical is about, and you’re interested in how TOHO staged it in 2019, I recommend reading my full art reports:【ACT 1】 and 【ACT 2】. These two reports also show my general thoughts on Sissi (^ω^)
Now instead, I shall dedicate this post to making a comparison between Furutod and Sebastyun.
Furutod vs Sebastyun
When Furukawa’s role as Der Tod was initially announced, most people believed he would be very similar to Sebastian. It is an easy trap: both characters are non-human, have very little scruples, are fiercely attractive, and the theme of obsession is omnipresent.
But honestly, that’s it. That’s all the similarities these two share.
1. Status
The biggest difference between Furutod and Sebastyun is their status. Furutod is the Lord of the Underworld (黄泉の帝王), and absolute authority over life and death of all that is alive. Sebastian meanwhile, is bound to servitude who cannot even wield full autonomy of his own. Needless to say, their difference in power status decides everything in their respective behaviours.
1.1. Sebastian
Let us look at Sebastyun first. All three Kuromyus from the Furukawa era show very clearly that Sebastian is very limited in many fields, but the difference between the ‘mask of the butler’ vs ‘the raving demon’ is clearest in ‘Tango on the Campania’.
In the scene with Edward, we see the boy pulling rank on ‘a mere butler’. Edward was basically threatening O!Ciel using Sebastian, while hiding behind the face of ‘a loving brother’. There was nothing Sebastian could do as a mere servant, so he very explicitly checks first whether Edward had left, before he could show his true reaction: “whatever.”
In the cinematic record too, Sebastyun clearly disagreed with what his master demanded of him, and he only showed his BIG ATTITUDE after the boy had left.
Likewise, as explained in this post, because Sebastian is always bound to servitude, his autonomy (or whatever little he has) is something he treasures a lot. His only outlet of freedom is being pedantic and obtuse. Sebastyun takes it a step further by being passive-aggressive on top, a trait Furukawa has made his Sebastian famous for.
Obviously Sebastyun sees fun in doing so, but this is undeniably the result of a long history of getting his autonomy denied. He is the servant in the shadows who needs to wield power within other people’s boundaries.
1.2. Der Tod
As I mentioned above, Der Tod is the Lord of the Underworld, and as Furukawa himself interprets, represents the authority over both life and death. He never has to ask for a ‘yes’, other people’s consent or opinions are non-consequential to him. He takes lives because he can, and nobody can punish him for it.
Being an existence who never needs to learn accepting a ‘no’, he does not need to put up a face, because he never needs to make compromises. Der Tod is SO used to getting his way, that teasing the possibility of ‘not getting his way’ is even a game to him.
1.3. Comparison
Sure, Sebastian also teases and pushes his limits sometimes, but unlike Der Tod, Sebastian does have to consider having to reap what he sows. If Sebastian fails and breaks his contract, surely something terrible awaits him. But Der Tod? Nah… his Death Angels will clean up his mess.
Der Tod can afford to make mistakes in playing with his prey, unlike Sebastian. In The Last Dance↑, we see Furutod make the biggest miscalculation; scaring Elisabeth. Had he not scared her, then Elisabeth might have been quicker in agreeing to die for him.
Unlike Der Tod who has minions to clean up his mess, Sebastyun does need to make careful calculations.
2. Understanding and Interest
Another major difference between Der Tod and Sebastian is their understanding of and interest in human beings.
2.1. Sebastian
The thing Sebastian keeps saying is how interesting humans are; Sebastyun is the scientist always hungry for more knowledge, and humans fascinate him to no end. In ‘Tango on the Campania’ even with debilitating pain, he was smiling with the excitement at human behaviour.
He also makes use of whatever knowledge he has acquired throughout his centuries on earth to get what he wants or needs. Like I said above, at some point in history Sebastyun learned that fear would cause a human to shut down, so he was careful in not scaring Beast, lest she might not open up to him.
Had Sebas been a bit of a dumb-dumb and scared Beast the way he did in the manga, or the way Der Tod scared Elisabeth, then he would have failed his mission logically speaking.
2.2 Der Tod
Der Tod in contrast, always gets his way, so he does not need to understand humans to achieve anything. But more importantly, he is superbly uninterested in understanding humans. The only reason he shows interest in humans is for himself; he wants to bend humans to flatter his own ego. “If Elisabeth finally begs to die, then I AM the victor. If Rudolf commits suicide, then I manipulated him.” Der Tod’s satisfaction is the goal of his actions.
As such, when Rudolf ‘HAD THE AUDACITY to bore LORD DEATH’, he bitchslapped him before taking his life. When in the end Furutod did get Elisabeth, but not in a satisfactory way that assured his baby ego that he’s the winner, he was disappointed and lost all vitality.
To Sebastyun however, the satisfaction is a bonus: it’s nice to have, but it’s more important to get a job done.
3. Mannerism
Another point of difference is their mannerisms. Sebastian is a mere servant, and therefore needs to keep to the shadows. He usually tries (though fails) to adhere to the Victorian code of ‘servants should be like furniture, speak only when spoken to’. (In truth, Sebastian talks way too much for a proper Victorian servant, but he tries! He tries. Give the butler some cookies for trying.)
Der Tod meanwhile, is the supreme overlord of all and everything, so he does not need to care about anything. Plus, he can turn invisible as he likes. Unlike Sebastyun who needs to suppress his laughter or any other commentaries, Furutod can get away with laughing like a f*cking hyena on crack during an Imperial wedding.
4. Ego
Lastly, another stark difference between Sebastian and Der Tod is their ego and their presentation of themselves.
4.1. Sebastian
In this post I explained how Sebastian is very willing to humble himself, to come in second place, or take whatever disadvantage voluntarily for the sake of achieving something he wants or needs to.
This is because Sebastian is very secure about himself, and the recognition of humans (cattle) means nothing to him. He does not need anybody to know how powerful he is, instead he takes greater pleasure in silently manipulating others, using humans’ own actions against themselves.
Yes, Sebastian does love to flex, but he does not do any of those things to increase his reputation. We can tell from Sebastian never lingering to check people’s oohs and aahs. It’s like how when we impress a toddler with something easy, we usually won’t indulge in the kid’s praise because we don’t feel an increase of social regard. Instead, the fact that the toddler is impressed with something so easy is more interesting to us.
Sebastian’s flexing seems more like an outlet because O!Ciel forbade him from showing his true potential, and it is frustrating to him. It is just like how we as (young) adults we are capable of understanding deep analyses, but get constantly told to read picture books, on top of also having be content with hearing: “how amazing, you can read a picture book! You are astonishing!!😱”
4.2. Der Tod
If Der Tod was not explicitly ‘death’ personified, I would say that Furutod is ‘huge ego and diva complex’ personified.
Despite being a more elevated being than Sebastian (the scavenger demon) is as Lord of the Underworld, Furutod does like being praised. Der Tod is and will always be above human beings, and that is as boring a fact as water being wet. As I explained in Art report act 1, Furutod suffers from ‘lethal apathy’, and in this sense he needs more than to know ‘that mortals are beneath him, that water is wet’. Furutod wants to know that the mortals fear him, and gets a kink out of mortals being on their knees for him. Der Tod is not just ‘death’, he is the personification of ‘human regard of death’; and the fear of death, is what unifies human kind, after all.
Another point in stark contrast with Sebastian is that Furutod does have kin near him: the Death Angels. The regard of mortals is nice, but he also likes keeping his minions impressed, because his kin’s reverence also means something to him. It is almost like Furutod wants to justify why he should be superiour to the Death Angels (even though his position is never challenged). He just gets a REALLY big kink out of praise, okay? ( ´艸`)
Furutod’s enormous ego also shows itself in his diva-ness. When he is courting Elisabeth for example, he is basically behaving like a peacock. He takes Elisabeth’s hand and runs it through his silver hair, his ivory silken skin. “Look at me, feel me, human, I am SO drop dead gorgeous.”
Furutod also can’t handle being lower than anyone; whenever he has the chance he will literally place himself on higher footing.
Contrast this to Sebastyun who is always very willing to put himself lower than others. This ⇊ would be UNTHINKABLE for Furutod.
5. Conclusion
In conclusion, besides the ‘non-human character in a dark theme’ aspect, Sebastyun and Furutod really don‘t have anything in common.
5.1. Sebastian
The fact that Sebastyun is always bound to servitude whenever he is on Earth, and his lack of autonomy, shape his behaviour. His reputation on Earth has no meaning to him; Sebastyun is confident about what kind of Demon he is, and the opinions of ‘cattle’ are therefore insignificant to him. The only thing one must not challenge is whatever little autonomy he has left, and he will test and find the upper limit to wield it.
5.2. Der Tod
Furutod in contrast, only knows what it is like to be the most superiour being and never getting his authority challenged. He never had to learn to make compromises, nor does he ever have to deal with consequences. As such he is really a foot-stamping-toddler (Foot-stamping Der Toddler? Sorry.) with a toxic superiority complex and too much power.
Furutod’s supremacy is mind-numbingly boring to him, but there is no way to achieve something grander than what is already grandest. He is trapped in his own mind of toxic superiority and boredom, and will live the rest of eternity searching for entertainment. (It is kind of sad if you think about it……wait, I’m feeling bad for Der Tod? Hmm Furukawa, you really did add a whole new page to the history of ‘Elisabeth - das Musical’)
In short: where Furutod is eternally bored and has no prospect of getting sustainable entertainment, Sebastyun will always have something interesting he might run into.
mit dir stirbt die welt, halt dich nicht fest daran.

some very important info re: paid accounts~
I am not a lawyer, but I can decently interpret legalese and, being as I also suffer from tl;dr syndrome and assume others may as well, I took one for the team and went through the updated TOS for the post+ accounts and highlighted (what I understand to be) the most pertinent information, which ultimately comes down to this:
You cannot monetize copyrighted works (aka charge and earn money from fanfic, fanworks, etc) and if you do decide to put your fanworks behind a paywall via Tumblr, when you are inevitably sued, Tumblr will not protect you and will not defend you and you alone, personally, will be responsible for whatever monetary damages said lawsuit results in.
If anyone is a lawyer and knows I've gotten any of this wrong, please do not hesitate to correct me/this post.
Screenshots taken from Tumblr's TOS (updated 7-21-21), Stripe's Account Agreement, and the post+ FAQs.
1. Your paid account will not be hosted by tumblr; it is routed through a 3rd party.
2. By signing up for a paid account, you're entering into an agreement with Stripe, so in addition to Tumblr's TOS, you are also bound to Stripe's TOS.
3. Stripe, like Tumblr, will not defend you or protect you against any lawsuits.
4. Furthermore, you may end up owing Stripe money (indemnify = compensate)
5. Tumblr's TOS specifically states that you can't put any content on your post+ account that violates any laws, including laws that protect intellectual property rights of others. This is super important, because Tumblr's post+ FAQ also states that you can post anything that you would regularly post on tumblr, which I'm sure many will take to mean that gifsets, fanworks, etc are fair game, since all of that stuff can be posted on tumblr now. However, the difference is, you're not making money from the fanworks you're posting or reblogging now. Once money enters the equation, the game changes.
Tumblr is making it seem like any and all content goes for post+ accounts, knowing 90% of this site is fanworks. This is not true and you'll be opening yourself up for lawsuits if you charge for fanworks.
6. Tumblr further disclaims any and all liability in any legal issues.
tl;dr: Please do not make a post+ account, bc you will be opening yourself to lawsuits and if that happens, Tumblr's response will be not our problem, you agreed to all the terms which said you couldn't do that, sorry not sorry. Please protect yourself.
I think the thing that worries me so much about this tumblr plus bullshit isn’t the fact that creators can put their stuff behind a pay wall - for everyday regular bloggers that’s fine! Do what you want I guess.
But fanfiction writers CANNOT do this. Point blank PERIOD!
And some might say “oh but Aeryn it’s a choice! You don’t have to do it!” And, yes I KNOW this. I know it’s a choice. But younger fanfic creators out there may not be aware of the absolute shit show that went down several years ago where people SUED fanfiction writers over their work. And that is dangerous for many reasons.
These companies that own the characters we love do. Not. Care. About us. They will sue us the second some fanfic creator unwittingly uses this paywall to gain money from their fanfiction works. That is illegal. You CANNOT do that. You cannot gain money from fanfiction Bc technically it isn’t yours. The characters and the worlds are not ours and if just one of us gets caught doing it tumblr will get sued and we all know they don’t have the money to fight them and tumblr will go poof.
This post isn’t meant to be rude or demeaning or condescending. I am just genuinely so so worried about this because if it takes off, tumblr as a fandom space is as good as gone. And as much as I call this place a “hell site” I do love it. I love the community I’ve built here and the friends I’ve made and I don’t want to lose it because of the IDIOTS at yahoo want more money.
*sigh* so - please complain to tumblr about this and hope to god it doesn’t actually happen. For all fanfic writers sake.
@staff
I’m not clear on the details but I’m old enough to remember back in the day this happening as well on ff.net & such
what element writer are you?
Earth Writer
You have the patience it takes for flowers to grow, and break through the hard mountain floor. You writing is able to show an imagery not really anyone else can give. You gift your readers canvas painted with the most thought out shades anyone could imagine. You are the writer of those long stories that change the reader's life forever. You create whole universes with your words. Paint colorful worlds with words in black and white. Pains whole lives with ink. Your stories can hold the deepest meanings, but the majority of the time, your goal is not to teach anyone anything in particular, rather it's just to tell the story of someone, of how they grew, and faced their problems. Your favorite genres are fantasy, or mystery. You can also really love high school and college au. Your stories show universes never seen before, and building them can take a lot of time, but you don't easily give up. You have a great work ethic and, even if your sturdy foundations fall, you'll build new ones. Tropes that can be found in your fics include established relationships and canon.

Thoughts from an inadequate fanfiction author
I just read a Reddit post about feelings of inadequacy and jealousy in relation to other’s writing, that clawing in your stomach when you read something that is so gripping, so incredibly paced, or simply so wildly popular (dripping with kudos, comments, what have you) that you just want to quit, because you can’t write like that, you will never be as talented, as popular, etc, etc.
It’s such a ugly emotion that I hate to even admit to it, but I just feel like so many writers need to hear this and need to know they are not alone when they’re overcome with this feeling.
The thing that has really helped me is remembering that I’m the only person on earth who can tell the stories I tell.
Every person has a history and background that makes them uniquely capable of creating what they do.
I try to equate it to music. There are indie artists whose music I adore (Bright Eyes is a band that specifically comes to mind). What if your favorite band listened to Mozart or Beyoncé and thought, I will never be as talented at composing as Mozart or as famous as Beyonce, and therefore, I will never write another song.
How sad would you be, how bereft, if the artists you love gave up because they weren’t “the best?”
You are that perfect writer, not to everyone, but to someone.
That means something. It is so difficult to remember, but it all comes back to self-esteem. You are worthwhile and your writing is worthwhile NOT because it’s the best, but because there’s only one person in the world who could write it, and there is someone out there who needs to read it. Maybe you can make a stranger smile or feel or laugh, if only for a minute, and what an incredible gift that is.
So I urge you not to dim your shine for any reason. Keep going, find your audience, get better, KEEP AT IT. The worst thing you can do is give up, because that’s the only sure way you will never be that kind of amazing writer you wish to emulate.
If you’re curious, I wrote in college, then took a 10 year break due to feelings of inadequacy after having writer’s block and receiving a lukewarm response to some chapters I posted. I decided 2020 was my year and have written 42 works (some short stories, some long ones) since January. I swore to myself that I wouldn’t let anything stop me from enjoying my hobby again, and that’s why I want to encourage myself and others to feed their passions.
