When an Afro Latina Geek gets tired of lack of representation in Fantasy but remember’s SHE is Cannon in a Fantasy Fandom so that’s a thing I shared.
The TolkienBlackGirl’s Thoughts: Cones & Rods
What happens when an utterly bored Geek watches too many documentaries and 100 facts videos and then wonders how Middle Earth Race’s eyes do the thing.

The TolkienBlackGirl’s Thoughts: ABC’s The Quest & Inclusion Thought’s I shared years ago about a show near and dear to my heart.
ABC’s The Quest and its inclusivity.
The TolkienBlackGirl’s Thoughts: Other Stuff Also I became tired of feeling left out of reader inserted content, so I wrote a thing about it to help writers better include POC especially Black Folk.
TolkienBlackGirl’s Thoughts: “Why does it ALWAYS have to be about race”
I’ve heard this asked so many time, seen it in the comments and so on. Here let ya girl help you in understanding using Middle Earth as an example.
When they say... “...They give it a different name & treat it like it’s new, but you are confused because when you created it they shamed you for it. Wash.Rinse.Repeat. On & on & on...”

Fanfic isn’t FreeWhy you still have responsibilities as a writer & a consumer of Fanfiction.
Frustrations of a Tolkien Black Girl
The tiring reality of being Black in fandom.
Which do you think is most loyal?
"Forced Diversity” isn’t a thing. Spoiler Alert, the world is Diverse. Oh wait, sorry, it was a thing. It was called Colonization and Chattel Slavery...
In every way this is set up to be a joke like any other short video, it even uses the trope of main character in a wig to represent their mom, but it isn't funny at all. It's just sweet and nice
crazy how such a huge chunk of people in fandom dont treat "i dont write black characters in my fics because im afraid the big mean scary aggressive angry black people online are gonna Get Me" as the statement of vile racism that it is
The screenshotted comments are so annoyingly smug and rude about it, too. 😫
The frustrating thing is, the things they're saying are almost useful for the conversation, but they're working backwards from the conclusion they want to defend ("These findings are unrelated to race.") and so keep missing things– either deliberately or through accidental bias.
"People just want to bang a hot vampire. People just want to bang a villain."
First of all, there are hot vampires of many races in the film, and there are characters from many different places on the moral spectrum. The broad popularity of the trope Mafioso X Reader makes it pretty clear that people love a Smoke or Stack character when he's white.
Second of all, THIS IS THE CHARACTER TAG BREAKDOWN.
Not the shipping tags!
This isn't comparing how many X Readers each character has; it's literally how many fics INCLUDE each character. The disparity we're seeing here isn't the shipping disparity (which could easily be another conversation, because yes there are way more non-villain ships that get popular, in fandoms where there are white characters who aren't the villain). If your Remmick X Reader fic had any of the canon black characters in it, IT WOULD STILL BE INCREASING THE COUNT for their character tags!
The problem isn't that you don't want to bang Smoke or Stack. The problem is that in your brain, it's not just important that you bang Remmick; it's also important that the black characters have no role or involvement in the story. And the problem is that this is true on a wide scale.
The original poster wasn't sending personal letters to people who wrote X Reader, as much as each commenter seemed to take OP's observation as a personal slight. They were pointing to fandom-wide trends. This happens in every fandom, and these same excuses always pop up.
It's not about what you're drawn to. Literally just look at your own behavior and adjust it. That's what "doing better" is!
in case you didn't know it, this is also related to how cyclosporiasis spreads. when farm workers are not given adequate bathroom breaks or access to restrooms, they have no choice but to relieve themselves directly into the fields, especially if they are already suffering from diarrheal disease and have been made to work while sick. the pathogen ends up in irrigation ditches and, eventially, all over your food. this is why human rights like sanitation need to be available to everyone in order to be effective for anyone.
Thinking about how Zuko wasn’t even fazed by Katara’s impossible demands (reconquer Ba Sing Se, bring my mother back to life) at the beginning of The Southern Raiders, because he wasn’t deterred by Ozai’s impossible requirement to find the Avatar, either. But this time his insane level of devotion is actually aimed at someone who's worth it. 😭🌊❤️🔥
