It’s not a “safe space” for anyone, because thats not what fandoms are for. Its not an actual place? Its just people who like something? Millions of completely different and unique people? And expecting others to cater to your needs is an unrealistic expectation because of that. Thats the reality of the situation, accuse others of being pedophiles rapists and abuse apologists all you want. Is shipping pedophilia gross? Yes. How is fandom a safeplace for those people when they are called out and attacked by various sides of tumblr? I’ve seen it with my own eyes so dont say that doesnt happen. When I say fandom is not a safe space for anyone it literally isnt a safe space for anyone. The definition of a safe space is this - A Safe Space is a place where anyone can relax and be able to fully express, without fear of being made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unsafe on account of biological sex, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, cultural background, religious affiliation, etc. So by definition, no, fandom is not a safe place for those pedophile, incest, etc shippers since most of them are constantly called out and spoken against. You cannot police a fandom, and tell them what not to do. No one can. There is no point Some of the few groups harassed: people who ship straight ships: for being “boring cishets” lgbtq people: for wanting more representation, shipping gay ships, ace headcanons etc pedophilia/incest/abuse shippers: for those reasons trans: for trans headcanons and more everyday fandomer: having an opinion. Show me a “checked” fandom. Show me a fandom where that hasnt gone unchecked and is pure and good? There is none, because it doesnt exist. for every person going “i hate this” theres an equal amount thinking the opposite. so try to keep a fandom under check if you want —-> its pointless.
