Creative industries are those based on a person’s creativity, skills and how talented an individual is.
The concept of creative industries was first recognised in Australia in 1994 where the government brought in a new policy ‘Creative Nation’ which was designed to encourage Australia to incorporate more IT facilities and opportunities within jobs and education in the digital media sector.
Advertising and Marketing are sectors in the Creative Industry. Job roles which refer back to the advertising market include Account Executive, Account Manager, Chief Marketing Officer, Art Director, Creative Director and Content Producer. International trade in UK advertising and market research services have reached a record level of £11 billion (2019.)
Arts and Culture is a competitive field. Job roles in the art industry could of course involve simply creating original pieces, selling them, promoting them to the public, displaying them in museums and galleries. 2016 statistics show that the arts and culture industry were responsible for £21.2 billion in direct turnover.
Design related jobs include graphic designer, interior designer, photographer, art director, and many more.
The fashion industry includes jobs such as fashion designer, textile designer, stylist/personal shopper, visual merchandiser etc. There was an estimated number of 171,000 UK jobs in the fashion industry in 2019. The GVA that the fashion industry brought in in the same year was £3.5 billion.
TV and Film job roles include director, producer, camera operator, sound mixer and editor. The global theatrical market was worth almost $42 billion in 2019. UK films earned $10.3 billion. 
Publishing job roles include editors, literacy agents, literacy scouts, production editors and marketers.
Music and performing arts is another part of the creative industries. Jobs that are in the music sector include record producer, studio sound engineer, booking agent, concert promoter and tour manager. There were more than 26 million visits to live music events in the UK in 2014, generating £924 million. Also, over 117,000 British people are employed by the UK music industry.
Games design and digital media job roles include graphic designer, games developer, applications developer, digital marketer and many more. Within the digital media sector in the industry, London has contributed £1.4 billion of GVA to the UK economy.
