Either Cas or Dean or both made regular trips out to the cathedral to keep an eye on the revenant/vampire situation. There was even maybe something a little sentimental about it for him, since it was where they’d first kissed. That an angel and a human who had averted the apocalypse multiple times had shared their first kiss within range of a zombie attack was, honestly, par for the course for them.
Dean and Jesus liked to keep the revenant population down by using them for target practice. Cas was competent with firearms, since he occasionally needed to be, but in general he preferred not to use weapons, aside from the angel blade tucked into his coat that rarely made an appearance. It wouldn’t do to let most people in town know he’d brought with him one of the only weapons with a chance of killing him.
He wasn’t here to bother the revenants though, just to make sure they weren’t straying out of bounds. He could hear that he wasn’t the only thing alive nearby though, and he called a soft, “Hello?”
.
She knew that most things out here weren’t really alive, and what were, well, she didn’t think they talked much let alone calling out something as gruffly gentle as that ‘hello’. Her eyebrow raised as a branch snapped behind her and she made her way closer to the voice. She would much rather know everything she was potentially dealing with than be surprised.
As the man came into view, she tipped her head to study him curiously. “Hello to you too,” she greeted with a quick grin, unapologetic at being out where people were told to steer clear of. “I didn’t expect to see anyone out and about out here,” she admitted.
