Why I stretched my lobes 👂🏾
* reconnecting with roots (I’m half west African)
* enhancing communication with ancestors and deities
* stretched lobes can mark adulthood
* gone through certain life phases
* the bigger the stretch, the more time, patience and endurance it took. That alone signifies discipline, wisdom, and deeper understanding of the self
* can represent responsibilities, intuition, influence in community(especially elders)
* keeper of knowledge, spiritual teacher, healer or wise one
many African traditional religions and other indigenous systems believe that:
* the body has spiritual energy centers and/or doors (chakra points)
* modifying the body intentionally (piercing, tattooing, stretching) can activate, protect or open these energy points
* ears are connected to listening (being receptive to divine guidance/messages)
* In metaphysical systems (including some west African beliefs) the ears are linked to the throat chakra and intuition
* stretching lobes can symbolize expanding once ability to listen to spirit, ancestors, or universal energy
* In spiritual terms, creating a hole or passage in the body isn’t just symbolic; it can be a realignment tool.
* stretching the ears may allow for greater energetic flow; like a “tuning fork” that keeps you sensitive to spiritual frequencies.
* It’s believed that certain materials can help ground, heal, or sharpen spiritual hearing
* they’re receivers of wisdom, of energy, of guidance from beyond the veil.
To stretch your ears is in a sense saying:
“I am ready to hear, feel, and hold more than what the world sees on the surface.”
