Jim shifted himself to more of a sitting position, snuggling into Spock’s side; he listened attentively, watching every movement the alpha made. It was simple enough, and he looked up to the Vulcan with a wide smile -- the mere idea of being able to read, an entire librarys-worth of books on one PADD, made him incredibly excited. Gingerly, he took the PADD from Spock when it was offered, tapping the screen with a cautious fingertip. He just got to the book listing when the door buzzed, and Jim jumped.
“-- okay” he murmured softly, tucking himself away as Spock got up to leave; it was easy enough to hide behind the PADD, tapping a title that he’d never seen before. Jim could hear the voices outside -- a woman, apparently -- but did his best to tuck his blankets closer. It might mute his scent enough no one would even know he was there.
He even flinched when Spock came back in, but he came out of his little improvised hiding spot once he heard who was peaking. “I -- sure” Jim replied softly, tucking the PADD back into the drawer of the bedside table. Even though it was offered that he could take it with him, Jim chose not to. “I’ll leave it... I don’t want to get it dirty or break it.” Maybe you won’t let me use it again.
Jim walked into the other room, eyeing the two boxes -- it was so much food, and he didn’t realize how hungry he was until the smell hit his nose God, he was hungry. “M -- may I make a plate for you?” he offered, instinct settling in. “I can make one for myself, later, after you’ve eaten...”
