A Bad Summary: Homegirl is kicked out of home and through a course of unfortunate (or fortunate?) events ends up being housemates with a (HANDSOME 10/10) socially inept guy. And they get married too for reasons. Also follows the romantic escapades of her two best friends. Awkward but heart-warming romance at its finest.  An Actual Summary (x): Nam Se Hee is a single man in his late 30's. He has chosen to not marry. He owns his home, but he owes a lot on his mortgage. Yoon Ji Ho is a single woman in her early 30's. She does not own a home and envies those that do. She has given up on dating due to her financial struggles. SUNGKYUNKWAN SCANDAL

A Bad Summary: EVERYTHING YOU WOULD WANT FROM A HISTORICAL GENDER BENDER. Girl gets into a school which only accepts guys (cuz gender equality was real big back then) and ends up being roomies with Mr. Perfect. Said girl also becomes besties with these two other guys (bromance alert) who are 10/10. Solid fun time to be had. An Actual Summary (x): Kim Yun Hee is a smart, responsible young woman with an independent drive. Since her father passed away she has worked to support her family, but also managed to do well in her studies. When her younger brother's illness worsens and their family is in danger of being evicted from their house for lack of money. In her desperation to support him, Kim Yoon Hee decides to take the men's only national exam under her younger brother's name and disguises herself as a boy. On the day of the exam, Kim Yun Hee meets Lee Seon Joon and becomes friends. Lee Seon Joon comes from a privileged background and also possesses good looks. He is also arrogant. They both pass the national exam and she has to share a room together with him at Sungkyunkwan University, while hiding her true nature. ROOFTOP PRINCE

A Bad Summary: The crown prince from like 300 (?) years ago accidentally time travels into modern times. Meets this girl on her rooftop home. Also meets this other chick who looks like his wife who was murdered. Cue romance and plot twists.

An Actual Summary (x): Crown Prince Yi Gak finds that he has been transported from the Chosun Dynasty to modern-day Seoul. He meets Hong Se Na, who bears a striking resemblance to his dead wife, and is determined to solve the 300-year-old mystery of her death. With his own resemblance to the CEO’s grandson at the company where Se Na works, Gak assumes the identity of the young man to stay close to her. Can the Crown Prince navigate a modern corporation to find clues to his own time period?

IT’S OKAY, THAT’S LOVE

A Bad Summary: This suave author guy who (lowkey) has a mental disorder meets a psychiatrist chick. They develop this love/hate relationship with each other. The romance and drama is strong in this one. 

An Actual Summary (x):  Jang Jae Yeol is a famous mystery novelist and popular radio DJ with a prickly personality. After meeting psychiatrist Ji Hae Soo when they both serve on a talk show panel delving into the criminal mind, they instantly rub each other the wrong way. But when Jae Yeol’s girlfriend plagiarizes his work, forcing him to lie low until the media storm blows over and he can prove his innocence, he unexpectedly becomes Hae Soo’s roommate. Jae Yeol moves into a home that he owns that is being rented by Hae Soo; Jo Dong Min, another psychiatrist and Hae Soo’s senior colleague; and Park Soo Kwang, a young man with Tourette syndrome. As Jae Yeol and Hae Soo’s personalities clash, they help each other heal from their own deep-rooted emotional scars.

SIX FLYING DRAGONS

A Bad Summary: Think Korean Game of Thrones. I can’t even give this drama a bad summary because it’s too good. Here is a checklist instead:

Anti-hero: Check. 

Political warfare (aka A-grade plot): Check. 

Martial Arts/Sword-fighting: Check.

Romance: Check.

Cast/music/cinematography: Check.

Everything: Big fat check.

An Actual Summary (x): A fiction historical drama about the ambitions and success of six characters based around Lee Bang Won. Lee Bang Won was the third king of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea and the father of King Sejong the Great. He helped his father King Taejo establish the Joseon Dynasty.

SIGNAL

A Bad Summary: This police detective guy can contact this other police detective guy from the past through a time-travelling walkie-talkie. They work together to solve cold case crimes. I know, it sounds stupid but it is ridiculously good. Intense stuff, not for the weakhearted. 

An Actual Summary (x): If you get a chance to connect with the past will you be able to change the future?! After finding an old walkie-talkie, Detective Park Hae Yeong manages to connect with detective Lee Jae Han in the past. Together with the help of team leader Cha So Hyun they manage to solve South Korea most famous cold cases and reveal Police corruption.

SCHOLAR WHO WALKS THE NIGHT

A Bad Summary: This hot guy was turned into a vampire (but he’s still a good and righteous guy). He meets this girl (who is disguised as a guy because reasons) and can’t resist her blood (of course). Um...oh yeah, he’s been searching for this book and she becomes his ‘assistant’ because she happens to know a lot about books. Cue romance. Enter super hot villain vampire who will be your favourite character and shit goes doooowwwnnn. Think Korean historical Twilight with a really good-looking cast and beautiful scenery. 

An Actual Summary (x): Jo Yang Sun is the daughter of a nobleman whose family loses everything when her father is framed for treason. To make ends meet, Yang Sun begins cross-dressing as a male bookseller, and meets the handsome and mysterious scholar Kim Sung Yeol, who works at the Hongmungwan. Sung Yeol is a vampire, and he continues to be haunted by the long-ago death of his first love Lee Myung Hee, especially when he meets Myung Hee's present-day look-alike Choi Hye Ryung, an aloof nobleman's daughter. Meanwhile, the evil vampire Gwi resides in the royal palace and uses his powers and political machinations to prevent the Crown Prince from ascending the throne. ~~ Based on a hit manhwa by Jo Joo Hee and Han Seung Hee. OH MY GHOST

A Bad Summary: So this chick is super timid and has a crush on the famous (and arrogant) chef at the restaurant she works at. Suddenly, she is possessed by a really outgoing ghost who wants to fulfil her dying wish - to lose her virginity. And of course, the ghost has her eyes set on the famous chef. Hilarity ensues.

An Actual Summary (x):  Bong-sun, a timid young woman, is possessed by the ghost of a lustful virgin. She has zero self-confidence, and because of her extreme shyness, she doesn’t have any close friends. At the restaurant where she works as an assistant, she’s not particularly good at anything, and mostly just gets yelled at a lot. Her grandmother was a shaman so from a young age she’s been able to occasionally see ghosts, though it’s not until she meets the lascivious ghost that she gets possessed totally. Sun-woo is a conceited star chef who’s overflowing with confidence in his food and his skills. Bong-sun harbors a secret crush on him, though he doesn't take much notice of her for two reasons: because he’s always surrounded by women and because he’s hung up on an old flame. But then one day, Bong-sun starts acting differently, shedding her mousy personality, and ends up constantly on Sun-woo’s mind.

SHE WAS PRETTY

A Bad Summary: So this chick was super pretty and popular when she was younger and she was friends with the unpopular fat guy who got picked on a lot. Then he moved away to a different country. Several years later, he comes back except now he’s super hot and successful (and arrogant) whilst the girl is now ‘ugly’ and ‘awkward’. He wants to reunite with the girl but she’s too embarrassed to meet him and instead makes her hot friend go in her place. Shit then happens.  An Actual Summary (x): Kim Hye Jin was a very pretty girl from a rich family. After her family's publishing company went bankrupt, she experienced hardships then lost her beauty too. Ji Seong Jun was an unattractive boy with low self-esteem, but grows up as a handsome and successful editor.

A Bad Summary: This super cool guy does spy stuff at night. Meets this journalist girl who is trying to uncover something. Some action stuff. Intense plot. Some crazy discoveries. Romance. Good stuff.

An actual Summary (x): Seo Jung Hoo is so-called "errand boy". For a relevant price he may complete any task, only if it's not connected with murder. Under Healer's mask he had run foul of some organizations that now strive to catch him, however no one knows who he really is. He can count on older woman's help, genius hacker responsible for the technical part of their job. One of his tasks is closely connected to one girl, Chae Yeong Shin, second rate tabloid reporter. MASTER’S SUN

A Bad Summary: This chick can see ghosts and they don’t leave her alone so she has become an insomniac and basically a gloomy and anxious person in general. Then one day she meets this guy who is super hot and rich but also arrogant. Turns out every time she touches him, the ghosts disappear. Hilarity and romance ensues.  An Actual Summary (x) : Joo Joong Won is the stingy and greedy CEO of Kingdom, a conglomerate that includes a major department store and hotel. He meets the gloomy Tae Gong Shil, who started seeing ghosts after an accident. Their lives take a new turn as they work together to deal with the terror and sadness brought about by the spirits, while delving into a kidnapping incident in Joong Won's past.
