Right I'm gonna have a little rant. We all sitting comfortably? Well lets begin. A few days ago I saw a rather angry post saying something along the lines of "Am i the only one around here who thinks hashtags are fucking dumb? If i see a hashtag after your post then I immediately think you're an idiot!" It wasn't aimed at me, or anyone in particular, it was just one of those "ra,ra i hate everything and I'm going to let you know..." Now I understand a section of their bitterness, the amount of people who post a picture of them with a glass of wines and procede with hashtagging things like #wine #grapes #press #alcohol #tipsy #goodtimes #nightout #girlsnightout #town #city #bar #nottinghill #london #greaterlondon #England #greatbritain #europe #west #theworld... deserve a special section of hell, where they can hashtag the heat and it's fiery nastyness but hashtags do serve a very useful purpose. It allows an audience to find and connect easily to posts they find interesting, it allows for trending, so that mass awareness can be gained for a cause such as the #nomakeupselfie (another topic that i may venture on to) allowing wide spread attention and good deeds. So yeah hashtags are good... now onto that no make up selfie topic. Lots, and lots of hate was aimed at that from a lot of individuals who proclaimed "this cheapens cancer" or "why don't you make a real fucking difference, go volunteer yadayadayada"... to be honest no! The amount of money that was raised in such a short space of time was incredible, and something, that let's be honest is not a hard challenge to achieve. Yes a lot of snow leopards got accidentally adopted and a couple of other charities got accidental donations because people forgot how to type but come on! the millions it raised was incredible and that money can now be spent on trying to beat a disease which will affect each of us at least once in our lives. Trending is good and hashtags allow us to easily get things such as the #nomakeupselfie widespread attention then good for it! RANT OVER! PEACE!
