I fucking loOOAAAathe when people say "characters from [insert media in an inherently collaborative medium] are just the creators ocs guys!" Because its so DEEPLY disrespectful to every other talented individual working on that creative team.

If you never grow out of this mindset I earnestly hope you never get to realize that dream project. No, those characters are not the creators "oc's", they might've been once but now those characters are a product of several creatives dedication and passion towards their craft.

Respect that your favorite tv shows, movies, video games, whatever, were team efforts and not just the miraculously conceived brain baby of a single person.

we need to instill a new storytelling rule of thumb into people called "show don't tweet" where we encourage them to put all pertinent canon information into the actual story and its official supplemental material instead of using reddit AMAs as lore dlcs

and honestly, i think all the discourse around this show could be solved if yall stop treating a webseries as if its some multi-million dollar franchise.

you need to remember these are gooseworx's OCs! She happened to get the funding to turn them into an animation project. But theyre still her OCs. No one cares when others talk about their OCs on social media. So why does she get this treatment? Just because its popular?

there is no wrong way to tell a story. there are some valid criticisms for sure, as there are with ANY media. But to say its somehow bad storytelling that you get a bit more outside the story itself is just unfair.

Before recently, i never read a single one of Gooseworx's tweets. I still got a good experience out of a story, because none of the information in her tweets is pertinent! Are you gonna call Lord of the Rings a bad story because some of its lore comes in the form of letters Tolkien never published? No! That shit is all BONUSES. For if you want to know more about the world in front of you.

Nothing Gooseworx talks about in her posts is required for the viewing experience. I think its absolutely worthwhile for artists to take a loose stance when it comes to things not explicitely important to the story, but at the end of the day its still their world. they can talk about it more without compromising the greater story.

I think people at the end of the day need to realize there is nothing wrong with people using microlabels, being therians, objectums, using “cringe” lingo like :3 or XD, literally like. Just let people have fun and be themselves unless they’re genuinely hurting people.

When I was 16, during Covid Lockdowns, I was obsessed with finding something to be mad at. Feeding off of arguing with people online, I WAS MISERABLE. I would literally seek people out on Twitter and YouTube comments, meaninglessly arguing with people whose opinions on shit like gay people would NOT change. They will literally just call you a slur and continue campaigning against you don’t do it.

Now I am employed and am an adult and I’m like wow that is so. Draining why would I do that LOL

Now the block button and scrolling function are my best friends. Be cringe be free.

I will always support my therian, microlabel, objectum or “cringe” friends. I AM A “cringe” friend. I LOVE CRINGE CULTURE
