the fridge-freezer is in the kitchen. Not only are there dishes every day, not only are there food preparation surfaces of various kinds every day, not only are there crumbs and odds and ends that fall on the floor every day ... but the fridge-freezer is in the kitchen. The oven is in the kitchen, the food cupboards are in the kitchen, and above all THE KITCHEN BIN IS IN THE KITCHEN.

Having a magically-self-cleaning bathroom would be cool, but it wouldn't dramatically change my lifestyle.

If I could cook or bake whatever the hell I wanted, knowing that all my pots and mixing bowls and baking sheets would just zap themselves clean when I finished? If I knew that I could spill batter or grease inside the oven or burn things onto baking racks and it would just go away? I would be making delicious shit constantly.

Originally, I went in worried the opposite would happen. Growing up, I've been taught that Nigeria, the country, is homophobic. (I was born in America.) But over time, I learned that there's tons of other queer Nigerians; some are out, and some are in the closet 😭.

I have and it was designed by cowards. I feel only contempt for it. What i hate most about the baby Yoda, I will be honest here, is the lack of originality. Yoda is supposed to look like he does because he is unfathomably old. He is, like, 600 or something and iirc this is supposed tp be a fairly big deal even for his species. And yet here is baby yoda looking eaxctly the same as regular flavor Yoda minus like 3 wrinkles and a liver spot and plus shiny baby eyes??? Its like if someone tried to reverse engineer Stan Lee's species as a baby using only a pic of him at 95 and just made a small elderly Stan Lee with 1 less wrinkle. I loathe it. What it is is a transparent attempt to grab at both lazy recognizability of Yoda as a marketable character, and also + slapping on some generic 'cute' markers again very transparently for marketability. There is no thought to what makes a good design or to worldbuilding or character or to HOW AGING WORKS UPON ANIMALS. HERE IS THE BALD FACED TRUTH: BABY YODA SHOULD LOOK LIKE A MY LITTLE PONY SPINOFF ABOUT A GREEN PUG DOG WITH LUSCIOUS FLOWING LOCKS OF HAIR. YODAS SPECIES SHOULD LOOK LIKE THEY WERE DESIGNED IN A POOR ATTEMPT TO ELBOW IN ON THE LITTLEST PET SHOP MARKET WITH A "LITTLEST ALIEN DUDES" LINE IN 1998. So like. I have reptiles (two geckos and a python). They dont really have a concept of companionship or giving a fuck about other creatures to the extent of missing their presence as a source of comfort.

But they know I exist, they perceive me moving around the apartment outside of their enclosures and talking to them, and that my voice often precedes the appearance of delicious food, or rain (misting with a spray bottle) or a new interesting thing in their habitat to explore.

So on rare occasions I leave my apartment for more than a few hours, when I come back I often find them all coming out to the front glass of their terrariums to stare at me. They dont need to see me to know im there, so why would they come out of their hides and in the open, making themselves visible and vulnerable? What am I in their little brains that are made to perceive Food, Threat or Mate and not much else? I will never know. But it's nice to think that they accepted this gigantic, incomprehensible being as a part of their little world, and after its gone for a while they come out to confirm that Yes, Everything Is Again As It Should Be, Safe And Good.
