kian, 25, they/it/he (no preference, all are equally good). i write about queer people fucking shit up, intricate worldbuilding, and mostly happy endings. i'm open to tag games, dms, and asks, but i am unfortunately very slow at replying.

thank you to the beautiful wonderful mods of @writeblrgarden for helping me get back into writing with this month's event! every day (or at least as many days as i can manage it), i'll be posting a flash fiction about that the meaning of that day's flower. i very impulsively joined late last night which is why i'm only posting this on the second. don't worry about it.

i fear that i’ve been avoiding reading anything new because i knew that it would make me want to write and i thought i’ve successfully given up on that dream. and then i finished a new book yesterday and immediately wrote two little drabbles and started thinking about my stories again and i hate it i was supposed to move on
The problem with commercial F/M romance is that it's written by the most heterosexual women alive and reading it you feel yourself slowly suffocating from the Gender of it all like a fish in a eutrophying lake. And what we actually need as a culture is F/M written by insane bisexuals violently allergic to heteronormativity
Really can't go wrong in fantasy with a giant skeleton being part of the environment. I'm talking colossal, part of the scenery bones.
Oh yes, let me wonder what the hell it is, how it died, how long it has been there. Let me walk on its ribs pathways, climb inside an eyesocket, look at where it fused with the nature around it.
Angel of War, angular and strange, gleaming silver and gold,
Angel of Wonder, pure and one-eyed, looking to stars new and old,
Angel of Harvest, simple and hidden, bring nature's sweetness to all,
Angel of Health, mysterious and fine, beacon when life starts to fall,
Angel of the Deep, crooked and cage-like, guide us across the sea,
Angel of Solace, protect us from evil, lead us to where we are free.
I love all of these. The angel of the the deep's wings are canvas, held up by an anchor. The angel of war's wings are blades, and its shield is a coffin. The angel of solace is a mutant, its arms deforming into wings. Geiger counter in hand, it guides us through the danger only it knows. Was this angel once a man? Corrupted now beyond hope, he can at least save others from the same fate.
Writing high fantasy is harder for me than it used to be because I'll write "The door swung open" and I'll imagine some tumblr user with three different grad degrees in medieval history dunking on me with a 2,000-word post about how door hinges weren't invented until 1956 and before that they'd just smash them open with axes and rebuild them each time.
i hate how you get desensitized to the cool stuff in your WIP if you've been writing it for a long time so when you read back over it you're like "this isn't as cool as i thought :(" but it still is! you just read it too many times
