1940’s map of Kansas by French artist Jaques Liozu. The depictions of the local people and industries are playful and fun! -and dated. #kansas #kansascity #1940s #pictorial #oldmapsandprints ##oldmaps #oldmapsarecool #etsyshop #etsyfinds #cartography #cartografia #mapofkansas (at Olympia, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8E65F9nZ9B/?igshid=1oaqyhsvn0ij9

Views of the Russian North by Yuri Ushakov, 1960s.
The wooden churches from the paintings are very old - most of them were built in the 16th-17th centuries. In those times the Russian North was a wealthy trading region, with numerous cities and villages.
Wooden architecture is traditional to the Russian North; and the best examples of it still survived. Despite nowadays the situation with the economics and population in the region is merely disastrous.
(By the way Zvyagintsev’s movie “Leviathan"is set in the Russian North)
I found this vintage world map in an Encyclopedia Britannica from 1904. The colors are lovely and it has that wonderful antique look to it. It will print out in a standard printer very nicely, but could go a little larger, without losing any clarity or the fine details. This is an instant digital

The Bohemians * - Christian Krohg, 1885.
Norwegian 1852-1925
oil on canvas, 56 x 67 cm.
* In the years 1882–85, Christian Krohg acted as mentor to a number of young artists in Christiania, and in this painting a group of them have gathered in Krohg’s studio. Edvard Munch has withdrawn into a corner and is lighting a cigarette, the actress Constance Bruun, in a blue dress and white shawl, sits with her back to us, and Oda Krohg is stretched sensuously out on a chaise longue and giving all her attention to the actor and sculptor Kalle Løchen. Løchen’s slim figure, hands in pockets and a cigarette dangling from his mouth, dominates the scene, and Oda’s fan, painted as flecks of colour, is at the centre of the composition.
