âTheyâre looking at us.â Adjusting his jacket with his free arm, Katsuki snorted. âHow annoying.â
It is rather rude to stare, but they keep looking at Katsuki, at IzukuâŠat the both of them together. Sliding his fingers to hold his boyfriendâs hand, Izuku reassured him not to worry. âJust look only at me, okay?â
âIâm always looking at you. Not that Iâm complaining about that.â
Katsuki is acting a bit weird today, but Izuku canât blame him. They are supposed to have a nice day off and some people staring a bit too much can be off putting. It is off puttingâŠ
While passing through the crowd or past a group of people in the mall center, it is quite noticeable; the staring is awkward, but Izuku stands tall next to his boyfriend. Theyâre holding hands while walking through a crowded area in Musutafu, heading towards a surprise place that Katsuki refuses to tell Izuku.
Lips have been sealed tight no matter how many times Izuku tried bribing them open with a kiss. The special secret Katsuki had for today was well kept, no matter how hard Izuku tried to investigate. At least Katsuki, found his investigations amusing. So, the mystery of where theyâre going this evening is what Izuku tried focusing onâŠ
But stillâŠitâs basic etiquette to not stare so much at someone. Itâs rude. Katsuki and Izuku should be used to it as graduates from the number one hero school, as fresh new pro heros, but after they shared with the media about their secret relationship since the beginning of their third year at UAâŠwell, not so secret relationship anymore, the staring became more open. More dissecting. To the majority, it wasnât a homophobic thingâŠit was mostly about the mess about five months ago on television:
Amused on the street after a rescue mission together, a journalist shoved a microphone to Katsukiâs face like a knife pointed at his chin. Souring Katsukiâs mood, as he finished saying farewell to a child that was getting checked-up by the paramedics, a journalist from a infamous gossip magazine aggressively demanded his attention:
âHello there, Pro-hero Explodinator, sir. We heard a troubling rumor from former classmates that you used to treat your now boyfriend, Pro-hero Deku, badly in middle school. Is this true?â
âThat was years ago. The both of us worked out our shit together. Why do you think any that is your damn business?â
âSome people say you donât deserve any forgiveness, Explodinator, sir! That he deserves better than someone who used to bully the beloved and favorited Pro-Hero Deku. Some former classmates at Aldera Junior High say you used to-â
âKey words. Used to. I donât know why you think you have any right to question my current-fucking-relationship with my own fucking-boyfriend who I give many shits about. Donât look down on Deku. You think heâd be so dumb to be with me if I was still that kind of brat? Whatâs your name, your company, you motherfu-â
âThere it is! That hostility! That anger. I wonât be surprised if you turn one day, so called Pro hero.â
The journalist was cowering in stature and Katsuki towered over them with shaking fists, but the journalistâs cockroach voice continued on. âRelationships such as yours set a bad example for-â
âHey!â Izuku jumped over the rubble and landed in a flash of green lightning, eyes glowing so threateningly that two nearby veteran heroes quickly parted to make way. He made sure to apologize to Mount Lady and Kamui of the Woods later.
As if the sunshine out of his ass, the journalist did an absolute 180, kissing said shining ass, but Izuku had none of it. âP-Pro hero Deku! Youâre actually here! Can I ask you some questi-â
âHow dare you. You have no right to talk about, Kacchan, like that. You donât know him! You donât know us!â
For that moment, if it wasnât for Bakugouâs comforting hand on his shoulder, Izuku didnât know what he could have done next. The journalist looked like he peeâed his pants and a group of other journalists from more reputable media outlets shoved him back into the crowding mass of people. Izuku remembered relaxing when Katsuki pressed his lips against his forehead and muttered, âForget about them. Letâs go.â
Mount Lady and Kamui of the Woods took over talking to the media, and the two of them walked away hand in hand. When they finally arrived back at their home, Izuku helped his boyfriend undress from those grenade gauntlets and arm braces, so then he could kiss his hands.
âW-what the hell are you doing, idiot?â
Kissing Katsukiâs hands took him by surprise, but Izuku only held him close. âPlease, Kacchan, let me say this..do this, just for a little while, okay?â
Walking backwards so that his back can lean against their locked front door, Katsuki sighed into the fluffy green hair that bumped against his chin. âGo aheadâŠanything. Iâm yours, Deku.â
âEverything youâve been throughâŠthey donât, canâtâŠno. Wait. They can and will judge you, but they can judge you all they want, but they donât know a damn thing about you, Kacchan.â Looking down at Katsukiâs calloused hands cradled between his own scarred ones for a moment, taking in the differences, Izuku closed his eyes when he whispered, âNot like I doâŠâ
âI love you and thatâs all that matters.â
Katsukiâs kiss to his own hands made Izuku giggle when teeth fake-gnawed at his right pinky promise. âTone down the sap, Deku. Your ass is sweet enough.â
Unzipping the back of Izukuâs tattered hero costume, Katsuki then lead him to the bathroom. Their shared shower was slightly painful with the small scrapes scattered on their skin, dried blood and dirt, but eventually it cleansed away. They erased the mess of an aftermath media battle, and the tender lips tracing down Izukuâs spine made the mess fade like a bad dream.
Theyâve grown as heroes, as people, as friends and as loversâŠand no one can erase the fact that theyâve grown.
Theyâve moved passed their emotional barriers like ocean would wear rock - slowly, but eventually smoothing the jagged edges of their misunderstandings. It was difficult and filled with pain, but it was worth it in the endgame, because they found each other again.
Izuku has been through so much and Katsuki has been through so much.
Together, theyâve surpassed their old, weaker-selves and become much more, as All Might told them on the day they shared their secret relationship with the hero; about being more than friends:
Their progression, their friendship, was like a slow burning flame in the blizzardâŠand only their bodies could keep it from dying; only their teamwork could create a shelter around the fire to let it grow until the storm passes. All Might began crying as he hugged them on that day, the day before their graduation at UA. The blessings All Might gave Katsuki and Izuku that day eventually made all three of them cry. The punch on Izukuâs shoulder he received from the angrily blushing Katsuki hurt, but did not stop his laughter.
When Izuku felt fingers begin to unravel from his, he reacted fast so that this wonât end. Leaning closer so that their shoulders are touching, Izuku squeezed Katsukiâs hand tighter.
âDonât let go.â The initial fragility in his own voice shocked Izuku. He cleared his throat once, huddling close to Katsukiâs side when he said, Â âDonât let go of me, Kacchan.â
âIdiot. I wasnât. I need to check my phone. Gotta check on our reservation one last time.â
âO-Oh.â Izuku laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head when Katsuki quickled looked through his phone.
The left side of Katsukiâs mouth twitched when he finished and closed his phone. âOur private booth will be ready in five. Good. Finally.â
âWait. Our reservation?â Izuku eyes lit up. Itâs their rare day off and the well kept secret of Katsukiâs slow reveal made him excited like a puppy.
Lifting up his black, aviator sunglasses, Katsuki greeted down at him with a smirk. âYou didnât think I just wanted to take you on a normal stroll around town, Deku? I got some things planned tonight.â
Blushing, Izuku rubbed his nose and said, âI-I bought some fun things we could play with tonight, Kacchan. I-Is that want you want?â
Katsuki gave him this shocked, scandalized look for a split second and then rolled his eyes, âWell, damn Deku, of course I want your ass tonight, but that ainât all. How long have we known each other?â
A few whispering teens were giggling at them, but when they looked over and they gave them thumbs up, the moment made Izuku smile and Katsuki groan. Some people were kinder, or at least, less rude than overs. The tallest boy in the group of teens said, âLove you, Wonder Duo! Have a good day you two!â
After thanking them, Izuku thought aloud his answer, âTwentyyy⊠one, no wait, twenty two years. Yeah, thatâs it.â
âYep, we were crib sharing before we could form thoughts, so twenty two it is.â Leading Izuku to turn to the right into a busier area filled with eateries, Katsuki hooked his arm around his boyfriend of five years and leaned down to whisper in his ear. âAnd how long were we together?â
Covering Katsukiâs mouth since he began to pepper kisses at his neck, Izuku moved to step on the other manâs foot to make him drop. Sadly, Katsuki dodged his foot out of the way just in time, and Izuku replied, âFive years! Well, one, not counting the years we werenât openly sharing outside Class 1-A.â
âWow. Youâre doing great, Deku. How typical of a nerd,â states the previously third in Class 1-A. A few meters away from their destination, Katsuki swiftly spun around and slapped his hands hard over Izukuâs eyes. They wrestled a bit, an elbow jabbed at his stomach and a slap to the butt later, Katsuki won as he led the man forward through the crowd of people distracted by the food everywhere. When they arrived, Katsuki finally let Izuku see, so he could smuggly say, âAaaand, weâre here.â
Internally freaking out at the special hole-in-the-wall destination, the hard-to-get-into Hero-themed humble casual eatery shop called âShiny Pro-Hungerâ restaurant, Izuku smashed Katsukiâs face against his chest as he cried, âI CANâT BELIEVE YOU GOT RESERVATIONS!â
Pulling away, so he wonât suffocated against Izukuâs fabulous pecs hidden underneath that plain white T-Shirt that says âT-Shirtâ on it, Katsuki smirked. âHeh. Well of course, I got reservations. Who the hell do you think I am, Deku?â
Katsuki nodded in agreement when Izuku cried against his black skull-patterned shirt with arms wrapped tight around his waist. âYOUâRE THE BEST KACCHAN!â
While Izuku was distracted, muttering about the Explodo-Katsudon, the All Might trio-tiered strawberry, vanilla, blueberry, cheesecake with chocolate chip cookie crust, and the off-menu request only Eraser Head yellow sleeping bag roll cake, Katsuki checked his pocket for the ninth time. Deep inside his jacket pocket, Katsuki rubbed a thumb over the small red velvet box and let a subtle sigh of relief get disguised by impatience.
Waving his hand towards the restaurant, Katsuki teased his crying Izuku still holding him close. âWell? You gonna keep listing the whole menu, or are we gonna eat alllll the food together?â
Grabbing his hand tightly, Izuku rushed inside with a simple, âLETâS GO!â
The crowd inside the small hero-themed eatery cheered for them both as soon as they entered and the owner herself left them to their more private table in the back. Overall, the noise level in the restaurant is moderate, the staff is top notch and friendly, and the food has surpassed pro-hero levels of amazing. When his spicy ramen and Izukuâs Explodo-Katsudon bowls were polished clean, and the waiter arrived as a distraction with their extravagant pro-hero desserts, Katsuki swiftly placed the box at the center of their table.
âHuh. Something else arrived with the dessert, Deku.â So, Katsuki stood up and reached out to quickly grab it off the table. He kept his eyes locked with his future fiancĂ© the entire time as he got down on one knee.
With half a bite of cheesecake in his mouth, Izuku cried and sputtered out a âYesâ before Katsuki could even ask.
