Look at this amazing sculpture! This is due to the phenomenon called Total Internal Refraction. If a material, say glass, has an index of refraction (basically, how much light bends when it enters) that is higher than air, there will be a viewing angle such that light simply bounces around inside the object without being able to escape. Normally this would result in a dark interior, but with this piece (the same concept used to make gems in jewelry extra sparkly) there are facets inside the object that allow some light to escape, and this happens every time it goes back and forth. I´ve been thinking about her design for so long, and I´m quite happy with the end result. Her fighting style is more wild and she´s even less stable than canon Opal, but otherwise they are pretty similar in behaviour.
