St. Hilarion's ghost story
For the ones who wanted to reblog the tags :)
just wanted to add that “Mary Ann” was Victorian (derogatory) slang for an “effeminate male homosexual” and that in all likelihood the story of the ghost of Mary Ann came from other closeted boys at St. Hilarion’s being killed for being queer, and that it (“Mary Ann”) also referred to boys who were groomed and SA’d by adult men (the specific word is “catamite”) (which, in Edwin’s case, could be read as the demon who took his soul to Hell, a defiling of his core and purest self)
just thought that should be a thing that more people should know
