I'm a single mom to two awesome kids; one who happens to be transgender. I am fighting for custody and to continue his treatment. Ariel (his chosen name), my son, has been seeing a therapist and an endocrinologist and is officially diagnosed with "gender dysphoria". The past year has been a rol...
There’s a trans group in my town that helped me a lot when I first decided I was going to transition. Nellie, Ari’s mom, is one of the founders of the group. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and she is also a wonderful mother.
The first time I saw Ari and his mom at the group, I started tearing up a little bit because I thought of how different my life would be if I would have been able to transition at his age. Having a supportive mom makes all the difference in the world.
Ari’s father is currently fighting for custody. He does not respect Ari’s gender. He misgenders him, deadnames him, and is completely unsupportive about every other aspect. Ever since beginning his transition, Ari has been much more happy and relieved, just like every other trans person when they start to live as their authentic self. The last thing Ari needs is to be put in an unsupportive environment, especially when he has a supportive and wonderful mother.
She’s fighting for custody, but of course, legal fees are expensive. Please share this or donate if you can. It would absolutely break my heart to see him ripped from his supportive home to live with someone who disrespects his very existence.
