21 Years Ago Today, Sharkboy and Lavagirl was released to the public

It's so weird be older than my favorite movie...😆I really wish it got the chance to grow up with its audience into a more serious adult series of movies and shows, like DC. The story progression potential for Chararcter Development, Villains and Plot Lines is insane.

Do I think Sharkboy and Lavagirl could be as big as DC if given the chance? Yes, I wholeheartedly believe that but it's a long explanation for a different time. [I'll explain more later.]

Am I the only one that questioned how the bills were paid in Max's house?

Max's father didn't work and they never showed where his mother worked either.

My guess is that she's a retired OSS spy living off her retirement money or a well payed lawyer.

I like to think she used to be a spy, fits well into my Underground F-17 arc before Sharkboy and Lavagirl return to Earth as official heroes after years of keeping their distance from humans.

Hello. So i rewatched lavagirl and sharboy with my little sister. And then I found you.

And I saw you really love it, so do you think they should remake it?

I think personally if they announced it, I'd be stoked but also I'd be really scared what they'd do to Lavagirl. There's just a tendency, these days, where they seem to uuuhh.... Fuck up, female characters like that. (Live action Katara what have they done to you TT_TT). I'm scared they'd go with a whole hothead and mean sassy girl when she actually seems rather restrained and gentle, and with a touch of clumsiness, and some lame jokes, while still being a valid threat.

What do you think?

Sharkboy and Lavagirl doesn't need a remake. With that being said, I'm not going to ignore the potential a remake has but at the same time...a remake does a disservice to the original film. Although, A remake can sharpen the ideas of the original film, it would also uselessly start the story over for a new generation that will most likely never find interest in a story like this one.

Sharkboy and Lavagirl is already built on a good foundation, it just needs a continuation. The fandom is already there, the foundation of a story is already built. The only thing stopping it is the the director's inability to see the potential in aging it up to match its current audience.

So, no. I do and am highly against the thought of Sharkboy and Lavagirl getting a useless remake.

So, about Plughounds...

According to the first book [The Day Dreamer], there's actually more than three types of Plughounds we saw in the movie: The dog type plughounds, snake cords and T-Rex. In the book: WireHound, I presume is the name for the dog type seen in the movie. The DinoPlug, must be the T-Rexs.

BirdPlug, CrocPlug, PlugRilla are all included in the first book during a confrontation with Mr. Electric. It's a shame we didn't get to see the other variations in the film. I imagine they're similar to the machines seen in Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.

This has also lead me to create a list of Plughound variations that Mr. Electric could also have

Also, here's a drawing of a CorbaPlug I did [The idea of upgraded fully animal like Plughounds is beyond fascinating to me as both enemies and useful threats against Sharkboy and Lavagirl]

But that's just me and my ruminations.

We never will get book three....

But looking at the entire map of Planet Drool, it does have some interesting places that weren't shown in the movie. If we had a true sequel, they probably would've shown a few more places but I find my attention most draw to Dulce Island and Nocturne Caves.
