Day five of Dead God progress: Ghost bombs.
If you have any idea what is needed for that unlock, let me first tell you a story. It took me weeks upon weeks of trying and failing to beat Delirium as the lost. It was so rewarding to finally do it, and the unlock I of course wanted was Godhead, but the technical Delirium unlock is Holy Card. Which doesn't matter for anyone except the Lost or Tainted lost, the former of which I would never play again and the latter of which gets Holy Cards anyway.
Yesterday, as teased by my excitedly typed post, I beat Delirium as Tainted Lost. And the run that did it? It felt like I was sisyphus rolling a rock up a hill and i reached the other side and the rock just rolled away into the distance. It was an eventful run, allow me to recap.
Basement (or some variant idk) 2 is where it all started. After restocking the shop a few times to find a holy card I saw Car Battery, I really like that thing. I had 13 cents, so I scoured the floor in search of the last two. I found one, but still not enough. I hadn't yet checked the secret room, which was the layout with the corner rocks and keyholes, behind one was a golden chest, and the other... Spindown Die.
I went kinda ham from that point, the devil gave me Whore of Babylon, so free damage. Another gave me Ocular Rift. The run was really just a good stats kind of run, and Dad's Ring saved me countless times. At some point, I lost my holy card, I don't even know what to, and I locked the fuck in. I think in Depths 1, might've been Depths 2, I found a planetarium. It was mars. I said no, and spun it into Terra, a beautiful item. One of the Depths treasure rooms gave like Scorpio or something, which spun into Libra, so the stats went just that much harder. I didn't actually hit Boss Rush, but without a mantle? Hell no.
I did, on the other hand, hit Hush. The shop gave me restock, and I bought so many cards to find a holy one, and I did, the instant I didn't have any money left. So, Hush with no mantle. The Hush fight was a breeze anyway because of 15-something luck+Ocular Rift+high tears stat means not a one projectile landed anywhere but on Hushie's big face. Then, I was face to face with the portal to the void.
Part 2's are rude, and this is already arguable a part 2, so here we are. An early boss room in the void got spun into technology. Another one presented me with continuum. The whole time, I had a red key piece from the card-buying in the Hush shop. I used it to find my secret room, especially because a boss had dropped Magic Skin, which for the Losts is just a free item. The secret room already had a pedestal, the DInfinity. So yeah. I put down magic skin and was smart, went and grabbed my Spindown, and then grabbed Dinfinity. I rolled, and behold, glitched crown. I'm serious. The remaining void rooms were only enough for five charges though as one of the rooms had no enemies, and I wasn't going to fight Delirium and then roll the other pedestal. That room with no enemies? A room with two pedestals and a restock machine. It gave me Parasite and Inner Eye. I was shooting Triple splitting continuuing lasers! Better yet. One of the boss rooms dropped Booster pack which gave me my mantle back. But no more secret room rerolls... But then it hit me: The key shard! I looked at my map and made a fairly educated guess: the red room gave me not only the last charge I needed and my Ultra Secret room. With glitched crown, it gave me some enticing options. C-Section, or Sacred Heart. I went Sacred because y'know, the lasers were pretty. That charge made the secret room pedestal also make me torn between two Quality Fours: Rock Bottom and R Key on the same pedestal. Rock Bottom is useless without more items though, so the R Key, if I survived, would give me another few hard mode marks plus maybe with Glitched Crown+Restock I could get Pandora's Box and unlock Moving Box, which I hadn't done yet.
I filled with adrenaline as i walked into the delirium room. Triple Parasite Homing Tech lasers with 40+ damage and 10+ tear rate, I blew through so much of his health while he was still face mode. And he never left face mode. And he died. Underwhelming. But hey, I did it.
Some unimportant things happened, I found a few items I recently unlocked and needed to pick up. I did grab Pandora's Box, went angels for the Key Pieces, demolished Satan and the Lamb, and Mega Satan went down to a barrage of Souls of Azazel, I don't know why so many runes were spawning. It looked sick because I had Playdough Cookie, so with parasite it was a giant rainbow cross!
So yeah. TLDR: Tainted lost gets spindown, Delirium puts up no fight. R Key lets me unlock Moving box. Mega Stan dies to Gay Jesus.
Sorry for the long one, but it's a monumental unlock. If only it were the last one...
