As season 4 of OBX comes out, I’ve been very reminiscent of my JJ Maybank series, especially now as it is coming to a close. It is funny because even though I’m choosing to not watch the latest season, the stuff I’ve seen regarding it has honestly made me quite sad. I always saw the JJ Maybank that I created to be a separate entity to the JJ Maybank in the series, yet I’m finding them to be more intertwined than I thought as I have seen clips from the newest season. Obviously, my story has gone in a very different direction, and so it would not make sense to continue on, but seeing this plot makes me so… angry? It’s just been really interesting to realize how much I still care, even as this chapter of my writing is coming to a close.

I also really love this Rooster fic on AO3, it’s so wonderful in every way.

If you like the Hunger Games, then this is my current favorite. There’s the first one and the author is currently updating the sequel.

I’ve also recently binged this Twilight fic, I think the world building is amazing and the plot and characters just blow my mind.

One of my favorites of all time, which is a Divergent fic, is also on AO3. Be warned, you’ll need some tissues, but once you’re done there’s a much more lighthearted AU by the same author.

But if you’re talking OBX, I do really enjoy @reduciodepresso’s JJ/OC series on AO3, and their Harry Potter fic is also amazing. You can find their profile here.

Also, since writing for some other fandoms, I can confirm no one leaves comments and sends thoughtful messages quite like fexi people did at the time when I was writing for them. There are just so many kind and supportive people who I’m grateful to have interacted with on this insane platform. It feels impossible to phrase this in a way that doesn’t seem like I’m trying to boil down a man’s death into like fandom and fanfiction stuff but life is weird like that. I hope everyone is doing alright and I know things like this can feel so so strange and overwhelming even though it’s not a close personal loss. I’m just so sad it had to end this way.
