i see a lot of people making jon unbelievably hot as a reason for why martin would like him in s1. and i won’t deny that he could be (and if i did i would be a hypocrite since i’m putting him in a whole ass lehenga rn) but also i think it should be reversed. jon should think martin is one of the hottest motherfuckers to ever grace this earth. the thoughts he has when he first sees martin scare him because even he didn’t know he could yearn that hard. so he represses his feelings so hard he convinces himself he just hates martin. this totally isn’t projection because i think martin is the most gorgeous man ever whattt noooo that’s crazyyyy

See, from my point of view, I think they both think the other is unbelievably hot, but they are alone in this. The general reaction to anyone outside their immediate selves finding out they are falling all over themselves for the other is "I'm sorry, that?!"

The difference is that Martin will wax poetic about specific details (his voice, his eyes, his hands, etc.) and the inner beauty shining through and making something outwardly ugly not conventionally attractive more beautiful, whereas Jon will indignantly demand to know if the other person has eyes.

Sorry to be a hater but honestly I'm really glad that people are starting to realize X-Men 97 is not that good

Like I know I'm incredibly biased and for that reason I was willing to let s1 go without saying much but s2 is genuinely indefensible. However, I do think that this show has had pacing issues from the start. Ignoring how bad they handled most of the arcs, their utter determination to scrape as many as possible into both seasons takes away one of the main things that made the original series (and the comics for that matter) so good - the characters. In 97, literally no one ever gets a chance to breathe. Some of the emotional scenes feel rushed and almost out of place, because we just don't spend enough time with any of the characters. Even the filler episodes are so plot heavy and/or focus on unimportant characters (I'm sorry Polaris I love you but we did not need that episode). Genuinely this show needs a beach episode so goddamn bad

I can't even try to defend s2 by saying "oh well they needed to focus on the plot" because I actually can't tell you what the overarching plot is other than uhh.... Apocalypse bad

The "Magneto was right" shit in X'97 lowkey pisses me off both as someone who absolutely does NOT think Magneto was right and someone who actually does support the more revolutionary politics that slogan is limply gesturing at, but this is actually kinda funny. Like hell yeah, Magneto Was Right T-shirts now for sale for 50$ at the Disney Store lmao

I haven't seen the episode but this character looks like a tool, too, really holding a mirror up to your fanbase there. Totally captures the whole "Che Guevara t-shirt made in a sweatshop and sold on Amazon, but for nerds who don't know who Che Guevara is" vibe of the average Magneto Was Right t-shirt owner.

That said, I don't know if you get to make this joke after a season-and-a-half of being the TV show equivalent of the guy in the Magneto Was Right shirt lol Is this meant to be a dig at De Mayo or something now that the last episode he wrote is over? Like what are we doing here?

ik, if there was any secret queer subtext to this bit, morph was more likely trying to get logan to admit to bisexuality. but i viewed this scene in my own biased way..being about gender(cuz morph is lil miss+mr they/them, and a character turning pink when thinking about themselves is usually a gender thing these days..)

also projecting that the reason logan hasnt been talking to his closest buddy morph is a similar reason jax avoided ribbit in the finale of the amazing digital circus, having a super vulnerable moment about his identity after getting his metal torn out, then desperately tried to erase it and avoid it. and to me, that's what this weird out of place ending scene is, a continuation of them 'not talking about it' and morph being pissed that logans just going back to normal and putting up the shield again

like. the Wolverine persona is one that i see logan trying his damndest to feel like he reclaimed and shaped on his own, as both a coping mechanism for the trauma and a way of coping with the fact that hes convinced himself that hes less without it. hes been forcefully trying to grow n evolve into something stronger n better, but its into someone he made up(as a way of having the illusion of choosing his own path), rather than who he actually is

hes the best at being Wolverine, but hes too scared to try being himself again. all of himself, not just the strong part hes perfected

So every time I post a D&D related thing I'm always "I just like imagining my favorite characters as silly fantasy guys, I've never played this game, I ain't never gonna play this game" etc etc.

Anyway.

My nephew wants to learn how to play so I offered to DM for him over his spring break. Turns out my sister's always secretly wanted to try playing too but could never find a game. Now we're trying to see who else in our family wants to join and uhhh

Nephew and I filled out a character sheet together this weekend and earlier tonight my sister and I talked about what kind of character she'd like to play.

Nephew is Gary the Loyal, a swole tavern brawler goblin barbarian on a quest to hunt down the bad guy who hurt his friend. Sister's an alchemist artificer with no social skills who became an adventurer to harvest rare potion ingredients from monsters--and as soon as I told her about Gary, she immediately jumped on the idea that her feeble nerdy character should be a big species like an orc or goliath for maximum contrast.

I already love both of their characters so fucking much. If anything bad happens to either of them I will kill everyone in this room and then myself (which is an unfortunate position to be in, as the architect of everything bad that's going to happen to them lol)
