The racist and transphobic tears being shed over the casting in The Odyssey almost make me want to see it.... almost.
I mean just imagine looking at Lupita Nyong'o and not thinking, "Yeah, that's the most beautiful woman in the world, I'd go to war for that." You must be seriously estranged from beauty to think anything else.

What to Read After Watching The Odyssey 🏺
cast whoever you want for the odyssey, i’m fine, but i draw the line at not making the clear casting choice of ben affleck as penelope
This. Amazing. Woman. I just saw Nolan's Odyssey, and there is no word that can describe how much I ABSOLUTELY ADORE Circe's character and the completely valid and justifiable crashout she had on all of Odysseus's men.
There really is something to be said about how she turns men into lions, tigers, and other animals that HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HARM AND KILL HUMANS because the danger those animals pose pales in comparison to the danger that the men they once were are capable of. She feels safer living with man-eaters than with actual men, and can you blame her after everything she's been put through?!
And you gotta love the line "go back to your disguises," which she said as she was turning the pigs back into Odysseus's crew, and what that line says about all of them and how she sees the world because of all the terrible things men like them have done.
She's not some sadistic, power-hungry villain who delights in the suffering and cruelty of others. She's JUST A WOMAN TRYING TO PROTECT HERSELF from the suffering and cruelty that the men who have crossed her path have heaped upon her, in a world that has been shaped and twisted to support and protect those very men.
thankful i was not the only one who had this thought cross their mind while watching the odyssey 😭

INDE NAVARRETTE "The fake answer that I love to give [for my childhood crush] is Channing Tatum in Step Up. But the real answer is Optimus Prime in Transformers. Specifically, obviously, the first one. There's a monologue that he has at the end of the movie that leads right into [a Linkin Park song]. I think that was my awakening."
"Preparing [for the role of Nikki] was really fun. We got to watch a lot of fun movies, and kind of pick and choose, like a puzzle, what we wanted in the film. Moments that we took inspiration from, and made them our own." — Inde Navarrette for Fandango "We watched Get Out, and focused on a lot of the moments where characters are showing an emotion underneath but saying something completely different [on the surface], and how horrific that is. There's a scene where [Nikki] is saying, "no", and there is a [similar] scene in Get Out [which we took inspiration from]." — Inde Navarrette for A Shot Magazine Obsession (2026) Dir.
