OUGH... heartbreaking. 10/10, destroyed me emotionally, standing ovation.

What I especially love about this is how it takes the Weird Route's theme of false growth and stagnation and applies it to Ralsei just as much as Noelle. Because the expectation would be that he'd be horrified and try to stop the player from using Noelle to "Win" the world of Deltarune. But that implies that he had any of the character development that would likely occur in the regular route. Here we see a Ralsei who has been metaphorically frozen in place, unable to grow past his unquestioning servitude of the player, even as they lay waste to his world. He simply hasn't been given the chance to escape that mental framework, or to even allow himself to feel terror or resentment at the player's betrayal. He simply accepts it as the end of his designated role, and allows Noelle to literally freeze him, believing that he literally has no further use to anyone if he cannot guide the player anymore.

And that makes this even sadder, thinking about that. All that potential for genuine growth and development, the chance for love and understanding to blossom between these young people - not just Noelle and Ralsei, but Kris, Susie and even Berdly too - who have nothing concrete to cling to except each other... all squandered because the higher being pulling the strings got bored and wanted to see how they could break the game.

Thanks so much for your kind words, and a very good detailed analyze. I thank you so much for saying some parts I wanted to express something I can't put into words.

Now realizing that the snowgrave route is the faster and coldest route where Ralsei didn't get any opportunity to ask what's "Ralsei-like", and allowing himself to have fun with friends. Not mentioning that, from the beginnings, he said repeatedly his purpose -Darkners' purpose - is to assist lighteners, or serve them.

Every time I revisit this part, I just can't help myself but wanting to tell him screw his purpose.

An appropriately eggy holiday for an adorably eggy human! Hope everyone's enjoying the coming of Spring! But with the coming of Spring, one thing must spring to the forefront of your mind!

Where is the release date for the demo????

Well... I'm very happy to inform you...

That an internal release date has been decided! I won't publicly commit to it quite yet, but the plan hasn't changed! The Undertale Cooking with Kindess demo will release later this Spring!

So what's the state of the demo itself then?

Well... When this post goes public, the demo should be FEATURE COMPLETE! That's right! As of when you're reading this, if you were to sneak into my house and murder me, you could play through the full demo from start to finish without issue!

In fact, starting this weekend, we'll start on the last major stretch of playtesting before the demo releases! Between now and the demo's release, we will be working exclusively to polish the game and fix all issues and respond to feedback we receive during playtesting (which I presume will be plentiful!) While the game is feature complete, it's still quite rough around some edges, and our focus will be on sanding down those edges before it lands on your plate.

We're very excited to be this close to the finish line (of this first lap) and want to thank everyone who's stuck by the project over the last two years, or anyone who took the time out of their day to check it out despite never having heard of it before.

Regardless, keep a close eye on our accounts for further updates... Our restaurant's grand opening is just around the corner!

I SWEAR I'M NOT CRAZY— A Deltarune theory

Ok so the bases of my theory is basically Sans Undertale was Sans Deltarune but Sans Deltarune won't become Sans Undertale

And this is because of a few facts, but most important is the lack of one, Grillby.

Now we know for a fact Deltarune and Undertale are connected. But I think people are still too attached to the idea that it happens before Undertale, even if not in the same universe. The idea people have is that; Deltarune > something happens > Sans goes to Undertale > Undertale happens.

Well, I believe that both universes are more disconnected than people think, and they are happening in unison. I think that yes, Sans (and most likely Papyrus) was not originally from Undertale, but he is NOT the one in Deltarune we see today; maybe he is from before the game starts or HECK a third universe we aren't familiar with.

Because Gaster (or who we assume is Gaster) says, "How long now, my Deltarune?" This is his game, his passion project that he is currently building, and Gaster is not stuck on linear time as we are; if this already had happened, Deltarune would already be done, he wouldn't be talking to us as if he were still making it.

So I believe that at the same time Undertale is happening, so is Deltarune.

Ok, but where does Grillby fit into all of this?

First of all, WHERE IS GRILLBY?

"Oh but Muffet also doesn't appear."

But in her case, she isn't Toby's property but a fan's donation.

Grillby is the only NPC from Undertale that doesn't get a Deltarune counterpart. Like, ok, he gets a whole newsletter dedicated to him, but he doesn't show up on Deltarune?

The guard dogs appear, the gay guards appear, the nicecream bunny appears, the trans lion appears (Slay btw glad u doing better)

THE ICE WOLF APPEAR— WE CAN'T EVEN INTERACT WITH THAT GUY ON UNDERTALE HE JUST APPEARS IN THE BACKGROUND

"Oh but he was there he just moved out"

Did he now? Because Deltarune!Fuku Fire tells us how she wishes she could be a waitress but a fire elemental could never do that.

And we KNOW that Sans just recently moved in and opened the store as Toriel met him literally the night before we start the game.

Ok, but lets say that he is just a joe who moved out and Sans got his place.

How does Sans have an usual?

On the newsletter focused on Grillby it is told that Sans simply walks in like he owns the place and asks for the usual despite never being there.

On the Deltarune we know there is no WAY they have ever interacted because;

Or Fuku is telling us that Grillby's never existed and barman firelementals aren't a thing OR Sans moved in AFTER Grillby's wasn't a thing anymore.

Could it be just a joke? Yes, but oh, don't you love the character Sans Undertale that has no deeper meaning in his puns and jokes? What a silly guy.

And another thing.

If Sans Undertale was the same one we met on Deltarune, why didn't he know Toriel's name? The moment he tells us that is when he is being the most honest with us, literally telling us he was gonna kill us. But he mentions the fact

And when they meet on the pacifist route, he recognizes her VOICE. Not her, not the woman he became very close in another universe, but a friend he made without even asking her name.

On this newsletter is confirmed to us that Sans can translate Grillby's silence, something that not even red bird (aka 2 most regular) knows how to do properly and many times mistranslates what Grillby says.

How would Sans know this??? Where has he learned this????

I'll tell you where! With Deltarune Grillby!

I have two theories; The safe and boring one.

The Grillby that Sans Undertale has met is from the possible third universe I mentioned and he just stayed behind when Sans escaped or whatever.

AND THE VERY INDULGENT AND MADE JUST FOR ME THEORY

I believe something happened in the beta Deltarune, when Gaster was working on everything. The brothers escaped, and Grillby got lost somewhere too. Maybe lost in time and space? Maybe deleted from existence?

Maybe trapped in the dark world? (Toby fox please make Grillby the secret boss and my life is yours)

Now, Sans and Papyrus are integral to the story Gaster is creating, so he replaces them. That's the Deltarune Sans we see and Deltarune Papyrus we hear.

Grillby? Eh, not so much… Who will notice if he is gone?

ME. I NOTICED.
