my favorite thing about eleanor is that so many people thought she was gonna be the next "goth-dommy-mommy" character but DE made her such a weirdo and a freak of nature that half of the players messed up her romance so bad they had to crawl back to reddit for advice. I'm sorry but only those pure of heart (like me) can succeed in her route.

AND!!! she did all this while being a character that could actually be considered at least goth-adjacent. Huge win for us fem presenting alt people.

The best part is when you look at her more than just surface level (unlike what most people did who failed her romance), she's really not all that special, just someone with complex thoughts and feelings on things.

Yeah the protoframeification process has changed her and how she views parts of the world. But at the core of that theres still that journalist who loves stories, and all the mediums in which they are told through. She's an absolute geek about these things and its so awesome. Despite everything she's been through she's still more "normal" than most regular people are. Theres a very complex and wonderful human being under that tough exterior she puts on that has thoughts feelings and emotions like everyone else.

It makes her feel like a truly real person I would actually want to spend time with, and I think thats kind of awesome.

The concept of gay marriage between Drifter and their Hex partner is so funny to me because bigotry and marriage inequality was still very much an issue in the year 1999 but Drifter would be innocently oblivious to it.

Drifter: I think I'm going to marry Eleanor one day :)

Aoi: Huh. I guess it's not like the government is in any state right now to legally stop you

Drifter: Why would they legally stop me?

And suddenly the Hex have to explain homophobia and the political history of prejudice to Drifter without them feeling like killing someone by the end of it.
