Moi kaikki! Here's a little pinned info post for this blog 🌟

I'm Saren, a 28 y/o person from Italy. I use both she/her and he/him!

I work as a concept artist for videogames, I love art and photography, studying languages, travelling and thrift shopping!

I created this blog to share my adventures in learning finnish, track my achievements and studies, and find language learning peeps to interact with and share our passion! I'm always looking to learn and improve, so please always feel encouraged to comment under my posts/send DMs to correct me or give me pointers on my finnish :)

Suomen Mestari time!!!!

After finishing the A1 section in my italian/finnish learning book, before continuing into A2 territory, I wanted to consolidate my basics and knowledge and decided to get Suomen Mestari.

I'm really enjoy the book so far, it's very well structured, and I think I'm a bit of a freak because I noticed I REAALLY enjoy doing exercises on the book haha. It's just so fun.

I'm feeling very good about my learning journey, and I'm looking forward to finish this book and continue unto A2 territory. I'm also taking private speaking lessons on iTalki, which have been going well, my teacher is super sweet and encouraging and I'm really hoping to break my shyness and start speaking more :)

I always buy some books/stationery when I visit Finland, and i bring back some store bags. My mom has kept this bag since 'it's cute and also very cool because it's written in finnish' and told me she uses it every day and calls it 'her suomalainen bag' with friends 😂

('suomalainen' is the only word she knows because of the Kari Tapio song ahahah)

How do we call bumblebees in italian? Bombi!

Bombus Latreille is the scientific name for this wonderful little guy. They are commonly known as "Bombi" in italian! (Bombo in singular)

It's one of my favourite italian words. It sounds so cute and funny and it's perfect for how cute and goofy these little guys are!

First of all, cute!

Secondly, this brought me back to the time I was about to leave my au pair family and the new Italian au pair came to visit for a few days. At some point I mentioned how some English words basically get turned into Finnish with adding an -i at the end. (mandarin - mandariini, penguin - pingviini, caramel - karamelli etc.) And she told me that in Italian -i at the end makes plural. It was a fun little human interaction and I was glad to be reminded of that^^

Aah yes, that is exactly right!! Funnily enough, finnish and italian have more sounds in common than I thought they would, they both sound very musical if it makes sense, and that helps making it easier for us to pronounce the words and syntax of the phrase :D It's a cool detail!!!
