He had no where else to go and this world seemed to be in a state of post war. So Tobi had been defeated in this world. Good, one less thing to worry about, unlike in his own world, where he practically had to watch his back at every turn. However, his predicament was the same. He refused to return to Konoha, but still felt a soft spot for the Land of Fire and he didn’t wish to live in Tanzaku town again.
So here there he was, traveling down a ravine known as Kikyo Pass. He had been walking for three days without rest, having been quite cautious when he had sensed Konoha shinobi near his camp, a habit he formed because of constant worry about being caught and forced back to Konoha.
During his trek through the pass, a small, shabby building had caught his eye. There had been no other houses or anything from what he had seen. Who would be living all the way out here? Hopefully they would allow the Uchiha a single night to rest. Sasuke had looked to the sign, which read Konoha Orphanage, and sighed. He wasn’t fond of children, but hopefully this place would be able to accommodate the raven haired teen, if not…he was screwed for the night.
He made his way to the door, knocking five times before he stood and waited before a frown crossed his pallid features. Something felt..off. His chest was starting to feel heavy, was it because he hadn’t slept in three days? The feeling only got worse until the door finally opened and Sasuke came face to face with a familiar visage.
"Hn?" It was..Kabuto. Yes. He’d know the medic’s mug anywhere, but this one looked older than than when he himself had last seen Kabuto. Only natural since this world was further ahead than his own. However, the sight of this somewhat familiar face wasn’t what caused a confused look to cross his pale features. No. It was the fact that alongside the heavy and warm feeling in his own chest, the silver haired man’s torso was glowing bright red.
Could it be..? Was that old legend his mother told him really true? No way. There was no way in hell that this man was his soul mate. Besides, if he was, wouldn’t Sasuke’s chest have glowed when he met the medic back in the Chunin exams?
"It's already past lights out." Came Kabuto's soft sneer, leaning on the doorframe and inspecting his visitor, currently ignoring the glowing and soft beating in his chest. Sure, this was his soulmate, but he didn't even have the decency to show up during the day?
Kid looked a little younger, too...
Suppose that's why his chest waited so long-- as the Kabuto that Sasuke met was, well, different, in many ways. Not his true self, all of that symbolic mumbo jumbo.
"I'm not even surprised you still ignore rules." He'd get to the bottom of this later, but for now he pushed off and headed inside, leaving the door open, knowing Sasuke would let himself in like he owned the place and everyone in it.
