To me Jena being neurodivergent makes so much sense.
They have a respectful relationship with one another. He validates her sensitivity and even makes a mental list of things that overwhelm her. He dims the lights when theyāre too much, quietly adjusting the environment to accommodate her without making it obvious.
She visits his study to do her embroidery, never a distraction. They co-exist. She hums a melody as she concentrates and without knowing it, Baelor times his breathing to it.
They never argue. If they do, they never raise their voices. They always figure things out by talking. Jena might withdraw and Baelor will give her space, but they always finish the conversation. They never sleep on unresolved tension.
They go swimming along the shores of dragonstone at dusk, when the water is dark and calm and the sand is still warm.
Jena goes in first every time. Baelor watches her as he takes his time to get used to the cold. She moves differently in the water, precise and confident.
He has a theory that sheās a mermaid. Heās sure of it as he sees the way the tide calms around her, the way she knows when a storm is coming before the sky changes.
If the weather is too breezy, he wont even bother to go in, walking along the shore.
He doesnāt just walk. He collects shells. Shells that have pearls in them. He hides them in his pockets and carries them back to the castle. At night, he works on the necklaces in private. Thread, clasp, careful spacing. He rejects imperfect ones, keeps only those that feel worthy of her.
The pearl necklaces wrapped around Jenaās neck are all from Baelor. The first time he fastens one around her neck, his hands are steady but deliberate. The pearls rest against her skin like something that has always belonged there. After that, it becomes unspoken. She never asks where they come from. He never stops bringing them.
Over time, the strands layer. Different lengths, different lusters. When she walks, they catch the light like water. He notices that, too.
