Talking about Beanix
AA4-5-6 SPOILERS âŒïž
I donât think some people realize how messed up Phoenix was when he was Beanix, his life quite literally fell apart after disbarment. He most likely shut a lot of people out when he first got disbarred. And given that heâs now a father, that mustâve been his only reason why he pulled himself together, for Trucy. She was his light.
But I think this man had no problem of dying, like, he felt so lost during this era that he probably had nothing to live for anymore (besides trying his best to take care of Trucy) He wouldnât really do anything on purpose to kill himself, but if he was going to die to causes âout of his controlâ heâd let it happen.
When Phoenix got hit by a car, he didnât even try to run. He just stood there, looking at the flash of light before his eyes. It was like a deer in headlights.
Phoenix wasnât the greatest father either, itâs most likely that he struggled parenting Trucy. He even took her to his poker tournaments at the ripe age of 8 or 9 to cheat so that he could stay unbeatable for the next 7 years. Who knows what kind of people theyâve encountered? Thatâs genuinely messed up for a child to see and itâs not really touched on the fact on how Trucy was affected by this.
This isnât canon information, Iâm just assuming & filling in gaps âŹïž
I think in a year or two after his disbarment, I think some people in Phoenixâs life started helping him out. Like he started letting only certain people back into his life after shutting everyone out. (Maya, Pearl, and even Edgeworth.) (Maybe Larry? Idk about him.)
(Iâm not sure who would have been there, but I think Edgeworth was there for him the most since itâs been implied, while Maya & Pearls have been busy with their training, and Larry, well idk about him. Iâve only played up to aa5 so idk much about aa6 yet. So I havenât really seen Larry since the first trilogy.)
Anyway, I think Edgeworth was there for Phoenix the most, just like how Phoenix was there for him.
Phoenix stated that he traveled to Europe before to help a friend with âlegal troublesâ and Iâm pretty sure this said friend was Edgeworth. I like to think that Edgeworth did not want Phoenix to stray too far from the legal world. After all, he was falsely accused and paid the price with something he did not deserve. I think when Phoenix was helping with âlegal troublesâ they were probably working on the M.A.S.O.N. system, and the whole jurist thing while stacking evidence against Kristoph through his beanie with that recording video camera hiding behind his pin.
As for Maya & Pearl, he probably didnât see them that often due to their training. He probably visited Kurain Village every few times with Trucy to hangout, or sleepover for a while. They werenât really mentioned since the first trilogy (besides Pearls making an appearance in aa5) so I guess with Pearl being here in aa5, indicates that they havenât lost full contact since Phoenixâs disbarment. But he probably stopped visiting as often when Maya & Pearl when to Khurâain (I think thatâs the country name in aa6???)
As for Larry, he either was there for him and would force Phoenix to go out since he probably didnât that often, or he wasnât there at all. All I know is that Larry appears in the aa6 DLC, and Iâm not too sure when was the last time have these two seen eachother.
Well anyway, I really love aa4 and I wish theyâve written it better and showed more of how much Phoenixâs âBeanix Eraâ affected him after gaining his badge back. Because during aa4 he was like this whole new person, he built a personality to hide himself. But when he got his badge back itâs like a regained his past self, but Beanix remained to be engraved in Phoenix.
For example, his âmysterious spriteâ never left, or like the time where Phoenix wanted to investigate the scene when he got the chance before the police arrive during turnabout academy. That implies that he still doesnât fully trust the police & the detectives. He probably grew to resent the legal world during his disbarment, and that probably sorta stuck with him. (This also took place during the dark age of the law, so anything could have happened.)
Yâknow, Phoenix definitely had his own way of coping during disbarment. He got addicted to grape juice (which most people interpreted it to be alcohol, but I still prefer it to be grape juice.) He probably drank grape juice to forget his pain. You can tell that he gets detached sometimes just by looking at him.
Phoenix definitely had so much going on but hid it all inside just so Trucy wonât see it, just so nobody, not a single soul could see. He didnât want to show this side to anyone & how much pain heâs in, but I believe Trucy, and other significant people in his life managed to get a glimpse of it.
Well anyway, thatâs all Iâve got to say! (For now..)
I hope you enjoyed reading!
Will the miracle happen?

~ The Lingering Feeling of Doubt..
~ Erasing The Doubt In Your Mind, Hopefully Puts You To EaseâŠ
Hi, this is my view of Edgeworth doubting Wright about how much he cares for him than he initially thought. Referencing that Wright fell through the bridge just to save Maya, despite Edgeworth knowing what was happening and what the circumstances were, he couldnât help but have that lingering feeling of selfish doubtâŠ
Of course, Edgeworth knew he shouldnât be feeling this way. He knew how much Maya meant to Wright.
And Wright, finding out about this doubtful feeling, wishes to remove that burden from Edgeworth.
He wanted him to knowâŠhe means just as much to him as to those he deeply cares for.

might get in trouble for saying this but i think the ace attorney fandom likes to ignore the fact that phoenix is canonically kind of a shitty dad, especially during the 7 year gap. like he was in a really difficult situation and obviously that made things hard for him, and it doesn't make him a bad person or make you a bad person for liking him, but he still treated trucy pretty badly at times and failed her pretty often. phoenix loves trucy a lot, and it's not like he wasn't trying, but he definitely made a lot of bad decisions that harmed her, and i don't think enough people are willing to acknowledge that.
like he used to bring his CHILD to illegal gambling games and either allow her to or force her to participate. she was the sole breadwinner for her family before she was 15. she was directly involved in presenting fake evidence in a courtroom (the very crime that got phoenix disbarred in the first place!!).
i think aa4-era phoenix is really interesting and fun as a character BECAUSE he kind of sucks. he's not a great dad or a great boss, and the fact that aa5 and aa6 completely retcon that because the writers were too scared to let their golden boy protagonist be a fuckup is a damn shame.
the best family in all of fiction i fear
Sigh, those two..
This is one of the drawings I made during Ace Attober 2025
This is one of my favorite works.
Insulting Phoenix.
Edgeworth: If anything's broken here... it's you!
Phoenix: Huh?
*later*
Judge: It seems... your very existence is "illegal."
Phoenix: Huh...?
*Present Edgeworth's note*
Oldbag: What!? You want me to look at this worthless piece of.....................
Oldbag: ...Edgey-pooooo...
Phoenix: (Ugh... Is that her perfume, Phéromone d'Amour, I smell...? *shudder*)
Does this mean Phoenix knows different types of perfumes??? THE NAMES TOO?? I remember this quote while playing the game on my first playthrough, I think itâd be cute if Phoenix learnt different perfume types back as Feenie.
Ace Attorney Side Stories
I feel like it would be really nice if ace attorney made a side story series. It could be a fun way to see what the characters do during their free time, or during off duty. Such as house shenanigans, casual outings, game nights, celebrating birthdays, traveling, etc.
This also opens up an opportunity to add more traits to some of the characters, and an opportunity to talk about some of the stuff theyâve been through. Itâs a chance for some characters to have a moment of vulnerability with a close friend, or another loved one. (Basically, angstâŠheheh)
This also can add more depth to friendships and relationships between characters, develop it further and deeper to make it feel more human and relatable. And with the knowledge of side stories, it can make the main games more enjoyable than they already are.
Also with side stories, itâs a chance for the devs to show us scenes that have been spoken but never shown. Such as :
The moment Phoenix getting his badge back, finally removing the beanie, telling the news to Trucy & Apollo, and getting his new suit. (I like to think Phoenix had Edgeworth help him out with his new suit.)
The day where Phoenix met Athena back in Europe, having her to join the âWright Anything Agencyâ
The hospital scene back in aa3 (yes it was shown in the anime, but not in any of the games!)
The judgeâs chambers (like, cmon..weâve never seen that place)
Phoenix telling Apollo & Trucy that theyâre half siblings (WHICH HASNâT BEEN SAID TO THEM YET???)
What Edgeworth has been doing to find his way back to the light (when he chose death, he went on a prosecutor journey to become better and discover what it truly means to be a prosecutor. Finding the truth.)
Phoenixâs grieving of Edgeworthâs âdeathâ (yes it was shown while he was working during some cases but what has he been doing off duty? Given the history between the two, thereâs a lot to unfold.)
Things that have happened during the 7 year gap
Trucyâs Struggles (idk if this was ever mentioned, but cmon they need to point out what sheâs been through.)
The development of the MASON System
Mia training Phoenix
Emaâs forensic journey
Lana finally getting released from prison (I know there hasnât been any mention of Lana ever since she was sent to prison, but we need to see her again gng. For all we know we couldâve missed a few years of Ema growing up.)
Franziskaâs growth as a person, and prosecutor
(I canât remember any more, soâŠfeel free to comment things that have been spoken but never shown in game. Or correct me if Iâm ever wrong about anything)
Well anyway, my overall point is that a side story series would be so cool. it can close off loose ends, and maybe fix minor plot holes if possible (such as the disappearance of the MASON System) and lastly, give us more content with the characters.
(Iâm aware thereâs a manga series thatâs basically like side stories but that hasnât been available globally for a long time now. Most people donât even know about it.)
what do you guys think about this?
