FINAL REFLECTIONS

The past 13 weeks of lesson has been a very fruitful one. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and learnt a lot more on how to create better choreographies and the importance of each choreography. From the smallest details to the final piece, everything matters.

I have never known the importance of things like motifs, repetitions or even the simplest movement of walking in a choreography. Ms Susan has been very helpful in coaching us through all these mini steps to our final product that we have created today.

The toughest part of this project for me has to be finding the music and to the steps of my choreography with my music. As my musicality has been pretty weak all these while, this final project has really helped me alot in being more sensitive to the music and it beats.

The past 13 semesters had definitely been a fulfilling one and I would like to thank my teachers and friends who have helped me along the way. (:

For this week, I did a little final recab and finalising of my choreography, idea, motifs and mini brainstorming. Here is a rough mapping out of my ideas.

For the second part of the class, we were task to do motifs with the music provided and at any point in time between motifs we were to improvise slow movements or plan to do nothing to link our motifs together. Here is the activity brief and my reflections.

For this week’s task we were task to start searching for music we would like to use for our solo and find the POA to see if they can link to motifs we created or we can create new motifs too. We also have to draw dynamic graphs for songs we have chosen to match the points.

Choreography& Improvisation Reflections - 19/03/2020, Week 11 (PART 1)

We recab on what MOTIFs are and how we see them in our daily rehearsal.

We then recab our previous motifs and how we can improve on them or how we can create new ones for our pieces.

We then did another round of showing with new motifs or motifs we joined together.

We then had a second round of reviewing and sharing of feedback. Here are the general feedback and special feedback my friends and teachers have shared with me so I can work on my piece.

For this week’s lesson, we started the class by going through what MOTIFS were and how we can implement them in our pieces. We were then given time to create out own MOTIFs that we could made links from our point of association (POA) from the previous week. Here is what we have discussed and what I came up with.

We were then given time to showcase out MOTIFs and we also tried piecing them together with a music given my Ms Susan.

After the showing, we then gave opinions and feedback on what we can work on as an individual and as a class in general.

After that, Ms Susan then reminded us about linking the motifs to our chosen item. My chosen item was my airpod case.

Last and final piece was inclusive of all the different (DANCE, FINE ARTS, MUSICIANS, AUDIO PRODUCTION, TECHNICAL PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT (TPM) ) students !!! 💯

This brings an end to our journey with Soundpainting ‘2020 ! It has been an amazing journey and needless to say all the valuable experience will forever be etched in our hearts! Thank you to everyone who made it possible and of course to our teachers for the opportunity and definitely LASALLE!!

SOUNDPAINTING ‘2020 ACTUAL SHOW

The day has finally arrived and its the actual day of live recording for our soundpainting performance. There were so many valuable lessons and great experiences throughout this journey and we are very honoured to have been offered this opportunity to work with world-renown sound painter Ms Angelique Cormier. As they said all good things have to come to an end. It was indeed a memorable journey that I would love to experience again. Here are some photos of that night.

Choreography& Improvisation Reflections - 20/02/2020, Week 7

Here is an overview of what we did today during rehearsals.

We revised the music palette with the musicians as we finally had the full cast of musicians again today. We had the chance to improvise with the drawings from the fine arts students. It was very fascinating to see the drawings they had drawn for us in relation to this soundpainting performance. Here are some pictures of the drawings and us dancers improvising with the drawings.
