          she  smiles,  tilting  her  head  and  popping  one  of  the  chocolates  in  her  mouth,  as  if  that’s  the  reason  she  can’t  tell  him  the  plans  ryder  has  enthusiastically  told  her  about  instead  of  her  pledge  to  secrecy.  once  the  sweet  is  swallowed  she  shrugs  her  shoulders  easily.  “i  took  a  sacred  vow  not  to  tell.”  level  voice  has  gone  very,  very  serious,  though  something  glitters  in  her  eyes  that  is  full  of  joy.  joking  around  like  this  -  it  used  to  feel  like  something  only  to  be  shared  with  anna,  and  even  then  only  in  the  smallest  increments.  it  still  feels  …  odd,  sometimes,  but  she’s  working  on  it  -  just  like  her  charades  skills.  “well,  i’ve  decided  that  if  olaf  can  rearrange,  i  should  be  able  to,”  a  hand  swirls  and  a  small  figurine  of  a  reindeer  that  looks  a  lot  like  sven  appears  in  her  hand,  crafted  of  fine,  sparkling  ice,  “use  my  advantage,  too.  to  -  even  out  the  playing  field.”

          arms  fold  across  his  chest  as  his  eyes  narrow,  a  look  of  utter  suspicion  and  teasing  mistrust  written  upon  his  features.   there  was  a  time  when  elsa  felt  ---  unapproachable.   when  he  did  not  know  what  to  say  or  do  around  her.   it  wasn’t  quite  intimidation,  as  it  was  ---  a  sense  of  social  awkwardness.   of  just  not  knowing.   but  how  they  have  grown,  and  continue  to  grow  into  this  relationship  of  theirs.   ❛  sounds  like  a  load  of  manure  if  you  ask  me.  ❜   such  a  foul  accusation  is  said  softly,  almost  under  his  breath  as  to  only  allow  her  to  hear  him.   though  he  does  turn  to  her,  winking  ---  an  indication  of  his  teasing.   however,  eyes  are  soon  widening  as  the  blonde  has  suddenly  made  a  sven  replica  within  her  very  own  hands.   there’s  a  moment  of  utter  astonishment  and  appreciation,  as  there  always  is  when  elsa  uses  her  powers,  but  he’s  soon  snapped  out  of  it.   ❛  don’t  you  think  ---  the  ice  could  get  a  little  ---  distracting?  ❜   there’s  a  slight  wince.   ❛  maybe  we  should  just  trade  partners.   you  and  olaf  against  me  and  anna  ---  that...   seems  like  it’d  even  things  out.  ❜   but  like,  REALLY,  is  it  fair  for  her  to  just  recreate  what  she’s  trying  to  act  out?

          before,  she  would  have  viewed  any  man  seeking  anna’s  hand  with  heavy  suspicion.  though  elsa  may  not  have  been  close  to  her  sister,  she  has  always  cared  -  always  wanted  only  the  best  for  her.  “i  -  “  lips  slant  into  a  mild  frown,  though  it  isn’t  particularly  upset,  “i  completely  understand  -  feeling  that  way.  but  …  that’s  what’s  so  amazing  about  her.  just  …  trying  is  enough.”  elsa’s  smile  is  faint  and  she  looks  down  at  her  hands  for  only  half  a  moment  before  looking  back  up  at  kristoff.

         there’s  a soft  sort  of  smile  that  tugs  at  a  corner  of  the  man’s  mouth,  though  there  is  still  a  gentle  furrow  of  his  eyebrows  as  worry  and  anxiety  still  have  a  hold  on  his  heart.   he  knows  she’s  right,  he  really  does,  but  knowing  and  feeling  are  two  very  different  things.   ❛  i  know  i  just  —  i  want  to  do better  than  just  — trying.  ❜   defeat  is  heard  within  his  voice.   he’s  sure  the  last  thing  elsa  wants  to  do  is  listen  to  him  fret  and  worry  about  his  proposal  and  yet  —   there  he  is.   ❛  do  you  think   —   i  mean   —  would  you  be  willing   —   to  maybe  let  me  run  a  couple ideas past  you?  ❜

     the  realization  is  slow  and  entertaining  to  witness,  and  she  is  suddenly  very  glad  that  she  didn’t  wait  for  some  theatrical  announcement.  yet  her  heart  remains,  lodged  firmly  in  her  throat.  a  child  is  a  lot  of  responsibility,  and  they’re  so  young—  so  foolish!  it  didn’t  quell  her  fears,  but  it  assuaged  her  worries  to  know  that  it  was  kristoff  who  would  be  doing  this  at  her  side.  who  would  be  struggling  through  all  of  this  with  her.  grin  widens  as  the  words  finally  manage  to  pass  through  his  lips.  despite  knowing  he  won’t  fully  process  it,  she  nods,  confirming  once,  then  an  eager  second  time,  and  suddenly  she  is  enveloped  in  strong  arms,  and  her  own  laughter  rings  out  once  again.  “  yes,  that’s  usually  what  having  a  ba—-  ”  cheeky  remark  is  cut  short,  blending  into  a  muffled  squeak  which  melts  into  a  soft  squeal  as  she  pulls  him  tighter,  meeting  the  kiss  equally  as  enthusiastically.  

          for  kristoff,  family  has  always  been  a  word  bound  loosely  by  its  definition.   family  was  found.   it  was  not  constituted  by  blood  relation.   he  had  been  an  orphan  since  his  earliest  of  years  ---  the  only  family  he  had  known  ---  had  been  one  he  was  adopted  into.   he  had  never  wanted  for  love  as  long  as  he  had  been  with  them.   and  even  now,  within  these  castle  walls,  surrounded  by  those  he  loved  dearly  ---  surrounded  by  his  family.   it  is  not  blood,  and  it  will  never  be  blood  that  constitutes  family  in  kristoff’s  eyes.   even  this  baby  ---  this  baby  that  will  be  his  only  living  blood  relative  in  the  kingdom  ---  will  be  bound  to  him  by  love.   by  the  unconditional,  unmatched  love  of  a  parent.   he  pulls  back  from  the  other,  though  his  forehead  stays  pressed  gently  to  hers,  she’s  held  close.   ❛  i  ---  i  can’t  believe  it.  ❜   there’s  a  chuckle,  just  teetering  on  the  edge  of  nervous.   though  can  you  blame  him  with  the  way  his  heart  is  racing?   with  the  way  his  stomach  is  twisting?   ❛  how  long  have  you  known?  ❜
