a little excerpt of a kingdon wip im working on, the plot is basically Frank brings cookies into the ED because he made too many with Penny and Tanner, and Mel really likes them and wants the recipe but Frank won't give it to her

So, as a recently sober, even more recently divorced dad, Frank made two promises to himself ; focus on staying sober and, most importantly, focus on his kids. Everything else would fall back into place. But tonight, he didn't have the kids, and he didn't have any meetings, so his focus seemed to divert to something else. He was finding his focus drifting towards this third thing more and more lately. Mel King. He wasn't sure when the switch flipped in his brain - was it on his first day back? When his divorce was finalised? Or when she first looked at him on their first shift together? When did he start looking for her in the chaos? When did simply meeting her eyes make his heart skip a beat? When did their ambulance bay chats start being his favourite part of his day? He didn't know, nor did he care, all he cared about was his kids, Mel King and his sobriety. And right now, he promised her some cookies, so he got to the kitchen.
