I think the reason readers either love Nesta or hate her is one in the same.

We see ourselves in her.

Some readers see their own shame and ugliness reflected in Nesta, therefore can't stand anything to do with her because that's the part of themselves they hate the most. She doesn't deserve redemption because she's sUcH a biTcH.

Other readers see all the same sharpness, severity, and "irredeemable" qualities in Nesta that they see in themselves and see her as a form of self acceptance. Yeah she's kind of a bitch. Yeah she fucks up sometimes. And we can give her grace through it (that we often don't give ourselves) because she tries to do better. She tries to do the right thing. And she's not always successful. Nobody listens to her and we see how much it frustrates her.

I know this isn't some monumental analysis but we are all Nesta whether we like it or not babes.
