[dropcap style=”flat”]T[/dropcap]acurong City will have a national event up its sleeves when it host the 12th Philippine Bird Festival on May 10-12, 2018.  PBF celebrations will be spearheaded by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP) in cooperation with LGU Tacurong, City Tourism and Department of Tourism XII.

The City of Goodwill maintains  the famous Tacurong’s Baras Bird Sanctuary “one of the 10 most internationally important wetland sites for water birds in the Philippines” according to DENR. The 20,000 plus egrets and herons in this sanctuary is the “second largest roosting and nesting site” of these birds in the country according to Mr. Rey Malana, the site’s project manager. Baras bird sanctuary is one of the city and region’s well known tourism site.

The 12th PBF event is open to everyone. It aims to highlight the importance of birds in the environment and encourages all to take conservation of natural habitats such as the Baras Bird Sanctuary, as a personal pledge to wildlife conservation.

To celebrate, here are the 12th Philippine Bird Festival activities:
