Even if he’s anxious, just thinking, or wide awake, his hand will automatically find a repetitive motion—thumb brushing your knuckles, fingers tracing the edge of your sleeve, palm resting flat on your back. It isn't frantic, but the repetitive motion helps his mind relax before bed.

If you curl, he curls. If you stretches out, he adjusts to fit your shape. Yuta’s body adapts around you like he’s learned your silhouette by heart. Someone could move you and he’d still be holding the space you were in.
But lol on a more casual level, it's almost cute. It's not just adjustments either— if you're lying with knees bent,? he'll match the position, if you're on your stomach? He's half turning to lie on his so he can still have an arm around you, without making any conscious decision.

The weight helps him sleep better, it isn't just the warmth or the fact that he can feel you breathing against him, but the physical aspect of it creates a hurdle- he can't toss and turn, he gets that itch to get up and pace because his brain didn't get the memo that it's time to rest? But unlike usual, you're here, sleeping with him, so getting up actively risks waking you up... so he just doesn't. Somewhere along staying still for your sake and thinking about how silent it is, he just ..dozes off. Wakes up the next morning like '?' because he used to sleep way lighter.
Not even consciously— tho yes that too, but yk how all couples start out cuddling in the middle of the bed but eventually sleep starts pulling at you and you roll away to sleep on your side of the bed. yuuta? he's not like that at all 😭 you roll away in the middle of the night? he follows, he's not even awake himself, you could start out with half the bed between you and somehow you still wake up at 3 am because there's weight against your back and there's..hair? tickling your cheek, so you turn to check and— yuuta's half on your pillow 😑

what makes it endearing is this isn't a nightly thing, it only happens during naps or for those rare unintended times where you don't even plan to fall asleep in the first place. you notice, but you never remember to point it out to him later. just gently nudging his chin up anytime it happens.

mainly because that leads to falling asleep, and falling asleep around the second years basically means:
It starts very innocently.
Common room lights dimmed, rain going off against the windows with that soft tip-tip acting as soft white noise, soft grey-blue ambience.
you start out sitting on one end of the couch with a blanket. yuuta's on the other. respectable distance.
but then at some point you end up leaning sideways without thinking, head landing on his shoulder because it’s familiar and you're cold and the evening feels lazy. He hesitates for exactly 0.02 seconds… then relaxes (willpower of a goldfish), tilting just enough to support you properly.
Neither of you acknowledge it.
yuuta's arm is around your waist (purely structural support, obviously)
your legs are tucked up, knees brushing his thigh

you end up falling asleep like that...

Panda might not bat an eye on his way in (he's only passing through because the common room is in the way to the kitchen anyway) but once he does pay attention, he would be the one alerting the other two.
