The protest leader Mrs. Nyadar of #BringBackOurGirls has been arrested in Abuja. The Nigerian government felt like she was making the government look bad. The #BringBackOurGirls protesting has reached across the world due to social media. The amount of 234 school girls in Nigeria were abducted. At least 53 girls were able to escape the hand of their captors. The Nigerians took their concerns to social media because they felt like their government wasn’t doing enough. In several of cities in the United States such as New York and Los Angeles, have carried out demonstrations wearing African head wraps and carrying protesting signs. These girls were kidnapped by armed members of a terrorist group ‘Boko Haram’ which is translated as “Western education is a sin”. This group opposes the education of women. They have a law called Sharia law, where women would be at home raising children and taking care of their husbands, so they don’t learn to read or write.
