HE’S SILENT ; TRYING TO gauge the intent of this stranger. at least ‘STRANGER’ didn’t mean much to spencer. if he had his way, everyone would always remain a stranger. that was easier, wasn’t it ? as much as he’d like to, he can’t get a complete read on the man. sure, the sun was high up in the sky, but spencer only saw ( & felt ) the SHADOWS. standing in the spotlight while surrounded by darkness was a different kind of cage, & the mistrust in spencer’s eyes is obvious. instead of answering, gaze shifts around the environment, flickering back to this man after only a couple of seconds. he wanted his eyes on EVERYTHING, but that was impossible. he had a feeling this guy was EVERYTHING around here, though. so he keeps his gaze glued there. ❛ --- what is this place ? ❜

People just want abuse victims that are soft and kind and gentle, the kind of victims who validate their beliefs that “everything happens for a reason”. It doesn’t occur to these people that abuse actually damages people, that it could turn victims bitter and resentful rather than into poster-children for resilience and inner-strength. Victims don’t just exist to pay homage to your worldview that “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” as if abuse could ever be a positive or an experience to be grateful for.
