book legolas is pretty cool but film legolas reminds me of one of those incredibly beautiful, incredibly stupid long haired pedigree dogs that you sometimes see in grooming parlours having their claws painted purple. like you could just pick him up and look into his eyes and there would be nothing going on behind them. film legolas has the elvish version of elevator music playing in his head at all times and i honestly love it

pacific rim really went OFF with drift compatibility. like, there was absolutely no reason the jaegers couldn’t be piloted by a single person; a bunch of teenagers managed it just fine solo in evangelion, but guillermo del toro was like “nah, we’re gonna reinvent the concept of soulmates with mecha and kaiju” and then went and did just that, the absolute madman,

that’s like my favorite thing about the drift comparability concept tbh

siblings? drift compatible. married couples?drift compatible. parents and their kids? drift compatible. two folks who just met but trust and respect each other a lot? drift compatible, babey.

it ties in perfectly with the idea that jaegers are an effort made by the entire world coming together to fight a bigger threat. all kinds of relationships are valued in Pacific Rim, because what matters is people supporting people.

So I found out a few months ago that wanting to ‘not exist’ or wishing you could ‘just sleep forever’ is also considered suicidal (specifically suicidal ideation). It shocked me cause I used to think that way when I was younger but had previously thought that being suicidal meant explicitly wanting to die.. but it actually involves wanting to not live too.

I think its an important thing to note cause it might allow someone to realize the severity of their condition earlier.

So like, Eraserhead.

Imagine you’re a pro hero who hates the media, you hate it so much and you avoid it whenever you can. Because of this no one knows who you are, and you like it that way, cause if people haven’t heard of you, villains will be caught by surprise when fighting you. You try very hard to make sure your image and information on you doesn’t get out.

But there’s this one blog.

This one blog from some hero fanatic, that has profiles on ALL the heroes, including you. How?? You avoid attention like the plague. They must have scraped together every moment you were fleetingly caught on camera, every one-word interview you got cornered into. The ravings of villains as they were taken away. This, one, GODDAMN blog has pulled it all together to put it on the internet and jabbered all about your quirk and your capture techniques and fighting style.

And you hate it. You stalk the profile and you can tell it’s obviously just some rabid hero fan who doesn’t mean any harm, the stuff on All Might is about 20x longer than anything they have on you. But it still pisses you off that this person could collect so much information on you and fling it up for everyone to see. And you almost want to track this person down to make them cut it out but you know it’s not worth it.

Then, cut to the beginning of the school year, and you’ve got your new students. You’re ready to put them in their place, lay down the rules, so you use your quirk on this one shy kid you know isn’t going to last the year.

And this kid takes one look at the goggles around your neck and is like “Those goggles, you’re Eraserhead!!”

And you realize.
