Summary:
Stein has known since he was young that the ocean holds untold secrets, creatures that hide in the depths. He had an experience with one such creature when he was a kid, but no one's ever really believed him. But who needs belief when you can spend your whole life chasing down proof? Stein may get more than he bargained for when he goes overboard his research vessel, and is saved by the beautiful red siren he’s been tracking. Unable to bring him back to his ship due to the raging storm, Spirit drags him deep into the ocean where an underwater city resides. Trapped in an unfamiliar—although wondrous—place, on the good graces of a creature he was hunting as proof he’s not insane, Stein has to deal with all kinds of culture and customs he’s unfamiliar with. And did someone just call him Spirit’s pet?

A Soul Eater Resonance Bang fan-comic, based on the story by VultureBeetleSnake
I had the honor of drawing for this absolutely BEAUTIFUL story by VultureBeetleSnake for my second Resonance Bang! I got so excited knowing it was my first choice, and both my fellow artist and the author are so kind and creative and it was just so so much fun. Oh, and the fact that I get to draw SpiritStein art for the first time is also a massive bonus!!
I'll get the links up as soon as I can, but I can assure you the story is genuinely so gorgeous- the author has a way with words that I can't even begin to describe. If you want to see Spirit, Stein, and their friends, young and enrolled in a boarding school to learn, practice, and perform classical music, all whilst exploring the innocence and wholesomeness of belonging, of love, of resonance -- then this story is for you.
That said, I also highly encourage you to check out the several other amazing art and fanfic that Resbang writers and artists have made this year! Everyone's so friggin' COOL and I can't wait to join the next one!
The first art was actually done during Neo Death a few years ago, so it was fun to see how things changed, haha (wanted to do more, but I'm happy with what I did this year).

Four years after the battle on the moon, Lord Death the Kidd feels things are finally settling in place for him when he starts to see a familiar pair of red eyes where he shouldn't. These sights turn into odd dreams and even odder whispers. Matters are certainly made worse when a witch interested in the moon's surface also makes her move. Are these dreams just the makings of a nervous new god or the sooner-than-expected return of an even greater evil?

Another Resbang, another year I've ended up working with @worldismyne! And @blackbloodteeth too! Myne wrote a super compelling work exploring Crona and Soul becoming friends (and mayhaps further feelings owo?) in White Rabbit. Teeth also created some banger artwork too, which you can find here!
For my piece, I wanted to change things up and do watercolor! Black watercolor paint is a (slightly) cleaner alternative to ink, so I thought it would be appropriate for the black blood of it all. I also added shading and other effects digitally, a method Myne's used for a lot of their own pieces that I also wanted to try out. It was really fun to do, and I'm quite proud of how it turned out!
