everything surrounding the id laws that just passed in Kansas is fucking horrible
Hey Bri I hope you don't mind me sharing this on your post but in case anyone reading this is in Kansas or knows trans people in Kansas, Colorado is nearby and considered one of the safest states for trans & queer people. I know relocating is logistically expensive and challenging for many reasons, especially for people in a vulnerable situation, but if it is an option anyone is considering, there is a nonprofit here that may be able to help.
Steps These steps are intended to be a linear process to get you out of there and resettled here. But we get it, you’re a big kid and can do

As President Trump deploys ICE, Border Patrol, the National Guard and other forces to U.S. cities, here’s how to tell them apart — and what
(gift link)
My city is teaming with ICE. I don’t want to write too much about it online so I’m asking you to trust me.
In my city, the ICE agents are always in plainclothes-sunglasses and hoodies up. They arrive in unmarked cars and always as a surprise attack. It’s eerie and unsettling. Here is an example of the cars used by ICE agents on Friday. These cars were verified by community advocates.
If you are in Massachusetts and think you see ICE in your neighborhood, contact LUCE. They will send out US Citizens out into the community to verify reports. We all have to help each other because shit is dark.

Now joy is spreading among the Palestinian people and everyone is happy about this. A prisoner exchange deal will be announced and the war will stop.
The crossings will be opened tomorrow. Please donate to complete our joy. Please announce a calming down.
Please help us as much as you can. Tomorrow is the only chance for survival. Food will be brought in and the famine and killing will end.
The killing, destruction, sabotage, hunger, thirst and lack of medicine will end. Please let us reach safety. Help me tonight. Tomorrow the crossing will be opened.

This is an interesting thing. Looks like testimonies of people who left the MAGA movement- how they got into it and why.
Leaving a cult is really hard, so I really respect the people who are speaking from this place.
Yes, actually.
Look, I know people want to react to the 'leopards eating faces party' with a big fat 'told you so,' but these are ex-cultists who are reaching out to people who may need an exit with a soft landing.
People who are deeply in a cult are afraid to leave it and MAGA is no exception! There's a fear that once you leave, you won't be accepted by anyone, so they stay even if they no longer believe in their rhetoric.
A very intelligent person can fall for a cult if they feel that it can offer them something they're missing. The outside world is perilous and you can be safe here. Your friends will reject you now that you've joined us, but we will accept you. Decisions are hard, we can make them for you. The secular world has broken you, we can give you new life through christ.
If you read some of the testimonies (and so many of them are young people) you'll see how much of it is 'I didn't see it, it took someone I love to show it to me, I can't unsee it now.' We've all done things we regret. Some regrets are bigger than others. I would rather forgive them and allow them to do good work than berate them for a decision they made when compromised by anxiety.
If you want to punish them, that's up to you.
But yeah. I think we should cheer for them.
This is going around Facebook right now
And it's 100% the sentiment that needs to be cultivated. If you want MAGA to go away or be diminished, then you have to give people grace when they leave. Not only that, but you literally have to make it as easy as possible, or all you're doing is cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Never EVER punish behavior you want to see.

Public outcry works. Protest works.
Keep raising hell!
You people who intend to change the meaning of zionist when Palestinians have been using it to put a name to their oppressors for generations like what do you want from us.
To be clear this is directed at people who insist that "zionist" is a dogwhistle for "Jewish person" when it very much is not lol. Enough.
Again and again we see that no matter what language Palestinians use to describe their oppression, no matter how carefully phrased, it is never, ever the right language.
Because the point isn't the specific words at all. The point is that Palestinians are supposed to be silent.
That Zionist is a dog whistle for Jewish person is pretty much only ever true when an obvious white supremacist is saying it.
Due to western media and not knowing any different, I grew up under the impression that it was an antisemitic dogwhistle. That’s because we heard from actual fucking white supremacists in the media but I can’t remember ever hearing from a single Palestinian. White supremacists did frequently use the term “Zionist-occupied government” as an antisemitic dogwhistle, which made it really easy to think that was always the case.
I’ve been a Jewish antizionist activist for nearly 10 years now, and two things have become absolutely clear to me:
1. No one differentiates between the concepts of “Jews” and “Zionists” more consistently than Palestinians. Even when they have lived under occupation all their lives and perhaps never met a Jewish person who’s treated them decently. They pretty much have to, because the second they don’t make that differentiation, the rest of the world decides “ok they must hate Jews, therefore they deserve what they get” and entirely write off their humanity.
2. Even Holocaust survivors have been accused of antisemitism by the likes of the ADL when they “come out” as antizionist. The whole takedown of Jeremy Corbyn as supposedly antisemitic was because he was on a panel with Hajo Meyer, an Auschwitz survivor who has compared the plight of Palestinians with that of Jews under Nazism. Meyer was heckled at this event and Corbyn was attacked and rejected for being part of it.
Hajo Meyer, who survived 10 months in Auschwitz in his late teens, was attacked as an antisemite. He continued his advocacy for Palestinian liberation until his death.
Other antizionist Shoah survivors - Marek Edelman, Hedy Epstein, Suzanne Berliner Weiss, Gabor Mate, Jacques Bude, Edith Bell, Lillian Rosengarten - have been vilified by zionist institutions for expressing solidarity with Palestinians.
Zionists clearly have chosen to defend a violent ideology even if it means trashing the reputations of Holocaust survivors.
Also - do yourself a favor and read Hajo Meyer’s last interview with Electronic Intifada from 2014 - you’ll love that dear man as I do:
Auschwitz survivor Hajo Meyer passed away at the age of 90. Three weeks earlier, he gave his last interview to The Electronic Intifada.
The service for women and trans people is trying to make their customers feel safer.
"In an effort to increase protection for trans people, a Pakistani business has launched a ride-share service that will be available only to women and trans people.
Called SheDrives, the service was launched last weekend [early September, 2024] and seeks to protect trans people from discrimination and harassment, says Ammaz Farooqi, the company’s chief executive.
It currently operates only in the second-largest city of Lahore, but Farooqi said that expansion is possible...
Gay sex is illegal in Pakistan and punishable by up to two years in prison, though it rarely is. Queerness is looked down upon, which makes being openly trans or gay difficult.
It is estimated that Lahore is home to around 30,000 transgender people, with organizations advocating for their welfare estimating the transgender population across Pakistan to be about 500,000 out of the country’s population of 240 million.
Farooqi himself is not transgender, but he sees his business as a way to help two marginalized communities: women and trans people.
“I’ve taken a small step, and we may expand this service to other cities,” he said.
He also said that “a unique aspect of this app and ride service is that both drivers and passengers will be women and transgender individuals.”"
