Winter Storm
Bumi smiled a bit placing a hand on her shoulder "Are you hungry we can get some hot chocolate and food if you want otherwise I was gonna cook at home but didn’t know what I wanted!" he said as he walked beside her "Well, sometimes you have to call pretty loud to get stubborn people to answer. I don’t mind helping people guess it is a trait I got from my parents." Bumi glanced to a small shop and gave a wide smirk “This place sells the best food and they cook in front of you!” he said almost able to hear his stomach growl.
"Food does sound wonderful." She says and looks at the place. "Well, I am glad your parents raised you with those traits." Mei smiles at him, sighing softly. "Oh, I almost forgot. My name is Lin Mei, but please call me Mei."
"Pleasure to meet you Mai" Bumi said as he quickly lead her inside waiting patiently as they were seated. "I would like a shot of whiskey with coffee and the usual" The waitress didn't even hand him a menu being Bumi always ordered the same thing. Cream puffs fried rice and sea prunes with a bit of roasted duck. The nonbender glanced to her offering her a menu "They have just about everything order what you want!" He said as the coffee was set in front of him "So are you from the city?" He asked giving her his full attention before removing the red military jacket. "This place is always so warm!" he said glancing over to the fire that helped to keep the small restaurant warm.
Winter Storm
Winter was upon Republic City. Mei was trying to find somewhere to stay, her firebending not holding up to keep her warm. Her amber eyes looked around as she walked, shivering badly. “P-Please..” The firebender started begging. “Doesn’t a-anyone have any r-room?” She looks around as people walked past her.
Bumi heard the girls soft voice calling and pleading on behalf of humanity for help. He sighed watching people pass by her without a second glance and shook his head before finally calling out to her. “You can rest at my place I have an extra room for the night. the temperature is suppose to drop and unless you are a waterbender you wont survive the night! Oh forgive me…my name is Commander Bumi.” He offered a gentle hand removing his trench coat and placing it around her shoulders. "There this should help keep you warm until we get there unless you would prefer to stay with my parents on the island!" He pointed out across the water with a soft smile.
Mei was surprised that someone had actually answered her. “Staying with you is fine…” She says softly and holds the coat close to her. “T-Thank you…” The firebender starts walking with him. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to answer me back..”

In over his head.
Bumi’s bangs fell back into his face as he lowered his eyes “I….I don’t know Auntie and if I told you then you would not believe me.” He said closing his eyes “They killed my friend because I tried to go home and they were making us move the girls and I didn’t even know it. Can you just please lock me up because there is no way I can go home now!” he said tears falling as in all honesty as angry as he was he really wanted to run to his mother and hear her tell him it was going to be alright. He was hungry but didn’t go for the water instead he simply watched the ripples.
One thing crossed his mind and he knew he could always talk to his aunt. Turning his gaze from the table he told her the truth. “I did not belong on the island because I was different and….it actually kinda hurt so I left. Then I ran out of money and this guy bought me a meal and gave me money and told me I could work for him. He was really sharp. All I had to do was deliver these messages to shop owners and avoid the police. Easy enough I know this city like the back of my hand. I never read the letters but their faces when they got them made it really hard. SO he moved me to the crates from the harbor. This ship would pull in and unload these huge crates. Took seven of us to lift one and it was done at night then the crates on loaded up and carried the headquarters. They took some of them back with them when I was arrested but I swear I didn’t know about the girls!”
He said softly his voice rising above a whisper. “I set the fire to alert the police I am not going to play a hand in those girls fates. But I just found out no telling how many jobs were us moving girls and why could we never hear them its not like weight shifted in the box. You woulda thought it was a real crate. Never heard a sound the holes were s small we couldn’t see in and figured it was armory or something!” His voice was tiny as a mouse when he looked up with pleading eyes. "Please don’t make me go home just lock me up how am I going to explain this to them. I will really be a outcast then."
"Oh-kay okay okay, take a breather there kid. You’re going to go home eventually, but you don’t need to go right now."
The two of them sat quite for a few moments, the sounds of metal clangs vibrating through the walls creating a white noise in the background. Toph thought over her options and her thoughts with a light sigh. Spirits knew she couldn’t take the boy back to her place for the night without giving Lin a heart attack. Yet he was spouting out some serious things that deserved some studious attention.
"I appreciate that you’re willing to talk to help out the Force. And I, or someone, will sit down with you and ask the questions later, maybe not even tonight. But right now I want you calm down. Let it out, if you need to."
By then she had risen to walk over to the boy and to ruffle his hair, which she could feel had grown long and wild.
"Need a haircut, eh kid?" she joked.
Bumi glanced up to the soft features of his aunt and without a moment’s notice he jumped up wrapping his arms around her “I …I can’t go home ma and pa will be so angry at me. I cause them any more trouble!” He said burring his face into her metal uniform. “I don’t…….what’s gonna happen to me?” He said glancing up to her with fearful eyes. He was scared they were going to have him killed and if she locked him up he would never see daylight again. “They are going to kill me soon!” He said glancing away as he took his seat letting a few tears fall as he flopped his head on the desk closing his eyes in a silent cry.
His blue eyes glanced to the door before back to his aunt and he casually set back wiping his tears away. “I don’t want to talk to anybody but you auntie!” he said sharply drinking a bit of the water as he gripped his stomach being he was famished. The nonbender had dropped a lot of weight but grown taller as his body began to fill in with a obvious watertribe build. His voice would crack as it was dropping with his age. He laughed a bit brushing his hair from his face “Yea….if mother saw me she would have a heart attack because of the hair alone!”
Playing with Fire
Bumi chuckled as he studied the woman before him. He enjoyed the four trays of food he ate and paid the bill. He made sure to give the woman a very good tip hoping it would bring a real smile from her. He understood how stressful working in foods or retail could be. Bumi opened the door for her rubbing his very full stomach and giving a silent burp before casually chuckling as he remembered the reaction his sister and brother always gave. “Excuse me!” he said simply with the sly smirk knowing had it ben his siblings he would not have apologized. The arrived at the palace after a nice slow walk to work off some of the food they had eaten. ”Alright soo…the guards are assholes so let’s sneak in through the back door!” he said softly as he made his way around behind the palace walls towards the bank of the sea.
Upon glancing about him he stopped over a sewer and smiled to her with a cocked eyebrow “Don’t sweat it this is not a real sewer link, the firenation would not lead that kind of waste to their water source.” He lifted the lid after a small struggle being he nor anyone else had used it since he was very young. Crawling down the ladder he landed in a small tunnel making sure she sealed it up correctly. “Make sure to close it good so it doesn’t stand out because it would really look bad if the United Forces was responsible for the ambush of the firenation palace! He stopped at a door much like the one at the firesage’s temple. “Alright so if you are cut out like your record says we are going to need it because I don’t have the usual tricks!” he said pointing to the firelord statue with a soft smirk. He chuckled one more to himself as he could remember his uncle fussing at him for using that door until he gave up years ago being Bumi never listened to him anyways.
While at the restaurant Iiah cleared her plate and happily down her milkshake in record time. It had been a while since she had gotten the opportunity to drink a milkshake, now that she thought about it. Work had been keeping her busy and before she knew it the entire fleet had set sail back to the Fire Nation. As Bumi tipped the waitress Iiah’s mind wandered from the shake she had just drank to the one she would be having at the palace. With only the finest ingredients this one would surely be good.
The walk to the palace was slow but short. He brought up the issue of guards and she flashed him a confused look. “Couldn’t we just say we’re here to see General Iroh? Surely he’s staying in the palace now that he’s home.” She followed Bumi around the side of the palace protesting silently. When he showed her the grate her face twisted into a pout. She hadn’t signed up for this. “Iroh knows I like milkshakes… He’d let me in and give me one…”
With Bumi already down the ladder Iiah saw that she had no choice. She clambered down it after him and sealed the grate above her head impeccably. “I grew up just down the road from the palace and never in a million years did I ever know this entrance was here. Wow, the more you know.” They approached the rather ornate looking door and Iiah turned to look over at him to establish a game plan. “I’m more than cut out for this. I just want my damn milkshake.” She smiled to let him know she teasing. “Now what? I assume you know the route there?”
Bumi rolled in laughter as he led her down the path careful to close each door he opened. “You want to listen to the general bark out a fit as to why we did not follow proper channels and alert him to our presence?” He said glancing over his shoulder. “Alight you have to hit it right or it won’t work!” He moved from her path and waited patiently. Once the doors drew open he smiled glancing down the stone path pulling a torch from the wall and smiling a bit “Alright come on!” He said carefully watching the ground before stopping
“Ok look for any of these and if you find them don’t step on them!” He said pointing to a trigger then to the wall made by ancient architects. He continued watching carefully heading for what appeared to be another locked door but turning down a small crack in the wall and pulling out a small key turning to a small barely noticeable door hidden behind a stone. He pushed the stone aside and unlocked the door stepping right into the dungeon of the palace. Glancing around he smiled a bit” Alright hard part is over all we have to do now is get up the stairs and past the throne room!”
thats doctor who
thank you!
what movie is this???
I'm quite fine with that! I was just thinking something casual--like maybe at one point during his exile Tonraq served briefly in the united forces with bumi and they visited a bar and a whore house or something :P
Lets go with that idea I like it and fooling around with Bumi you can bank on them going to both the bar and whorehouse. Do you mind starting?
-Please, Bumi, not again.
poor Tenzin. You probably had to entertain your brother for all the time he was around
"Do you remember when we were little and you made me play house with you and Kya. You forced me to be your husband and we could not have been any older then eight. I also remember this one time we took the game house a little too far and was missing for three hours. Took me two years to figure out we never had sex! So ummm....lets play house?"
