If you have the time, pick up a book. Pick up a pen. Write your thoughts and conversations with the characters in the margins so they disappear into the spine when you close the cover. Each shared word will bring you closer to the story, and each retelling closer to understanding.
I want to get more comfortable being uncomfortable. I want to get more confident being uncertain. I don’t want to shrink back just because something isn’t easy. I want to push back, and make more room in the area between I can’t and I can.
Kristin Armstrong (via whismical)
Anxiety is love’s greatest killer. It makes others feel as you might when a drowning man holds on to you. You want to save him, but you know he will strangle you with his panic.

We’ve all got that special place that we like to go and take our books, our art, and our projects. For me it’s a local coffee shop. I like to sit for hours discovering hidden passageways in my writing.
Ideally, this place should be within walking distance. Exercise gets the blood flowing, and...
Let’s face it: we all think the first draft is beautiful at first glance. So many pages, so many words, and the hard work is over!
Think again, lovelies!
Editing is just as important as writing that first draft. All the first draft has to do is exist, after all. It is perfection because it has...
Characters carry within them a portion of who we are. The author can infuse them with as much or as little of themselves as possible. In my experience, every character tells a different side of the author’s story. They show the dedication and determination that someone has to their project and its...
Greetings, writers! I'll just get this blatant display of self promotion out of the way: follow me on twitter! @roxipowell Now, onto business! I can't be the only one working on a project at the moment. Let's have a round of applause to those of you who are up well past normal functioning hours (whether because you've been up for ages, don't normally stay up this late, or are just plain BOSS) to work on a piece. And even after a full days work on it, you're nowhere near done with this chapter or segment. And that's okay. Give yourself a pat on the back, set the timer on the coffee maker, and go take a nap. Or sleep. Whichever works best with your routine. As always, I believe in you! Happy Writing! RE Powell

You can tell how dangerous a person is by the way they hold their anger inside themselves quietly.

Apply for as many jobs as you can As close to or farther from your heart Do not deny your passions Do not inflict undue pain Take something that inspires you Or helps keep you afloat And dream You makers of plans And walkers of forbidden lands Dream of a yesterday and tomorrow With more than enough room for two
It all starts with determination to Apply for as many jobs as you can

Eyebrows = your mental outlook or point of view
Even if you pluck, or draw on them, they still reflect the mental outlook that feels right for you.
Most eyebrows do not exactly match each other: In this case, the left eyebrow = personal life, while...
Screenwriting Tip #1096
Know what your protagonist wants, know why she wants it, and know why the thing she wants isn’t the same as the thing she needs. If you know those three things, the rest of your protag’s characterization will fall into place.

Strong women know the taste of their own hatred I must always be building nests in a windy place I want the safety of oblique numbers that do not include me a beautiful woman with ugly moments secret and patient as the amused and ponderous elephants catering to Hannibal’s ambition as they swayed on their own way home.
—Audre Lorde
Every first draft is perfect, because all a first draft has to do is exist
