Hello, little godling, are you here to seek out an exchange? What is the phrase those mortals say? "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth"? Are you here to exchange death for death? How counterproductive, no? Though it seems that you refuse to listen to any sort of reason nowadays.
A pity, really.
I expected better from you. However I can't blame you and the emotional storm you brought yourself into. Afterall, having the man you called "Grandfather" turn on you and slaughter your family one day is an understandable thing to fuss over. Personally, I could care any less if my brother died. Your aunt and I would be just fine, frankly. Everything would be better off with one less Primordial, but really, does that matter now with the problems he helped cause?
Regardless, I'm getting ahead of myself.
Here you are, a child of barren nature and moving time, with the dagger of your wilted sister Spring, the sickle of your arid brother Summer, and the laurel of your decayed brother Autumn.
Now, tell me this, little godling.
How much blood must be shed until you think it's enough to satisfy your sense of naive justice? Until every enemy you'll make and have have their blood spilt and pooling by your feet? Until they are on their hands and knees, begging for mercy, for you to spare them, just so you can be the judge of their fate?
Whatever your choice is, I'll simply be here watching you struggle and fall, and drop what remains of chaos you choose to leave in your wake.

Wasn't part of the plan, but you know how life loves to mess with plans. People happened, stuff happened, and suddenly you're on the move. The new chapter ahead? Buckle up, 'cause it's not gonna be all sunshine and rainbows. And guess what? Your step-mom? Yeah, she's right there in the same city. She's always had this knack for trying to steer your ship, like every decision's a GPS checkpoint. But hey, there's this one thing that's never let you down—your skateboard. It's like the buddy that's been with you through thick and thin, the one that never bails. Among all this craziness it's like your anchor. So, the big question is—can you break out of the loop you got in? Find your place in the world and restart or lose yourself in temptation? Time to find out."
@riptide-if - "Your dad has always said you swim as if your were born to be in the water; the rest of your family has always said that he is the whole reason you turned out like that. So, it's not really a surprise when you had used all the money you got for your 7th birthday to buy a surfboard. And even less of a surprise when you started joining small surf competitions by the time you were 10, later followed by bigger competitions. It seems you are the only one surprised when it turns out you're able to compete in the World Surfer's League's Ultimate Tournament Tour*. Thrown into a mix of fellow surfing prodigies, rookies, and pros, do you really have what it takes to win?"
@weepinwriter - "You are inmate No. 1441, incarcerated in Tartarus, the most notorious prison on the continent. You find yourself imprisoned for a crime that you do not remember committing, leaving you in a state of uncertainty about your own identity and purpose. The first memory you have is awakening to the sensation of a gun being shoved into your mouth."
@whatawaitsus - "Despite being one of the most expensive schools in the nation, nothing particularly interesting has happened at the school in the nine years you've been here— aside from the occasional accidental possession caused by a ghost or the common room getting flooded after a nixie gets too frustrated over their homework. That is until students start to go missing."
@evermount - "Blue-suited guards stand in every corner, but they're no threat—you're under threat. And this is how you keep safe. It's necessary; the council said so themselves. Under no circumstances shall Evermount be left, ever. So, no one has, and no one intends to. Why would you? It's peaceful—you're at peace. You have your spouse, and you have your house; everyone's happy. This is all you've ever known."
@forsakensword-if - "When the Deathless, an Ancient Evil that hasn’t been seen in over two million years, returns to Earth, it threatens the extremely precarious peace that has settled between the warring factions of Heaven and Hell. God, in an effort to protect Humanity from the consequences of a war between the Angels and Demons, sends Heaven’s best warriors to banish the Deathless once more. When that ultimately fails, it is declared that God’s Sworn Sword and Heaven’s Chief Angel will be charged with finding a way to destroy the Deathless once and for all. That Angel is you. The Archangel Michael."
@velena-if - "You wake up in a dark, cold place with no memories of yourself, save for one: the memory of your death. It becomes clear soon enough that you are in the Nav, the domain of the goddess of death, Morana, and the sanctuary of all the evil spirits and monsters. For you, Nav will be the place where your life changes forever."
@countdown-if - "Three months ago, life took a sharp turn. Your mother found herself entangled in a situation so bad, she couldn't dig her way out of it, like usual. This time, the hole was way too deep. She needed help, and the only people capable of aiding her were the same ones she had vowed never to allow back into her life, let alone introduce to you and your younger sibling. Who were they? Your grandparents—a powerful and well-established duo. In short, they did manage to help your mother back on her feet, but not without strings attached—never without strings. Now, you're facing a senior year in a private school, fully funded by none other than grandma and grandpa, dearest. The only task at hand: do what your mother couldn't—graduate."

@stonewall-if - "Stonewall Military Academy: the most brutal, merciless, and unforgiving boarding school in the country. Most recruits either desert or die by the end of their first year. It is where the fiercest and deadliest killers are trained and molded to be the military's steel fist. And it is not for the faint of heart."
@viperdove-if - "You are the Dove, the heir to one of the most powerful crime families in your country. The grip your family--your father--has on their side of the land is tight, and now that you've reached adulthood it's time for you to be fully absorbed into the machinations of gang warfare. That means opium, mercenaries, assassinations. In this ancient world, blood moves people just as much as money does."
@fallen-if - "You are an individual that has been known by many aliases over the years. Child of the dawn, the original sinner, star of the morning. But no matter the name, your identity remains the same. You are the one that defied the heavens, the one that cast aside the shackles of tradition and broke free from the constraints of the divine. You are Lucifer Morningstar - The Fallen Angel. "
@maboroshi-if - "Maboroshi is an Interactive Fiction Game based in the world of Naruto, however, all events within the story span during the end of the First Shinobi War and the beginning of the Second Shinobi War."
@greatprotector-if - "Forced out of your family's farm against your will, you are now an ocean away from home, and you have somehow been chosen to be the main protector of the heir to some kingdom you’ve hardly even heard of. The spot's only open because the former protector died of old age, so that's probably a good indicator that it won't be as strenuous as it sounds. But despite that, you pour yourself into your work. You can't help it. You feel safer decked out in armour, and you like having something you're trusted to look after. Protect some royalty, cover all your blind spots, and try not to worry about all you've left behind."
@retribution-if - "Retribution, He Cries is a revenge story set in the Dark Ages of the fictional world of [REDACTED] and other realms."
@thescarsilivewith-if - "You were a kind monarch once. After your mother’s brutal reign, you thought your people needed respite. Evidently, they didn’t think the same since their bloodthirst only increased. Three years after your coronation, your mother’s favourite consort dethroned you with the army and the clergy’s support. As you fled from the palace together with your spouse, from an arranged marriage celebrated only three months earlier, you were found by slavers. You managed to save your spouse but not yourself. Four years later, your spouse finds you, though you’re not the same person they knew. You are not changed in spirit alone, however, for your magic grew in your captivity and now you’re unbound. When the crown chose you as its owner, you wanted peace for your kingdom. Now the only thing you crave is revenge."
As I'm continuing the research on Nyx, the lunar goddess (Mesopotamian, Shinto and Budhism mythologies), along with the solar deity Sansone, I've observed that on each and every mythology of every culture overall, the sun and the moon along with the deities associated with them, were amongst the most revered and worshipped from those people. So it got me thinking on which of the gods in Retribution: He Cries has the greatest number or the largest cult of worshippers? And how big of a role will the siblings play on the upcoming events of the future demo?
I'll only put the top 5 most worshipped before the Purge:
Abel
Despoina
Gaia
Karma
Malkiel
Sansone and Nyx will have a semi-big part in the story, both being Rabbit's (MC) two of few of their remaining family left, either Rabbit's metaphorical and embodied emotional and logical drive in certain decision making, and will help in killing Abel.
*Note that these might change in the near future and is not set in stone.
I had a clarification question of sorts if you don't mind. The era of "The Purge of the Gods", or simply put, Abel going on a rampage by massacring the gods and creatures alike, had been going on for a while before the events of the trailer and culminated with the murder of his relatives right? And another question is about the Dark Age era: Did it come after Abel's and/or the protagonist's death?
Last one: Are you using the Ragnarok as inspiration for the story?
No, The Purge of the Gods started in the trailer. It's more of a slow build up of emotions and spite over the centuries, until Abel finally snapped and picked up his spear and sword. The Dark Age era, however, starts at the beginning of the main story, where the massacre has died down, only very few deities remain, and the whole world is in chaotic shambles. Though the possibility of the massacre continuing again is low, but not impossible.
Ragnarok is a source of inspiration, but not entirely. It was more of me wanting to depict a world where everyone is moving on from old ways and tradition, starting with how the gods and their influence and also magic itself are becoming slowly obsolete to the ever changing world that once valued it. Like how ancient civilizations used to idolize their many powerful gods, only for their descendants to see those same gods as nothing but stories and myths now.
The second deity on these series, is Nyx, featuring on “Retribution: He Cries” as the cousin of the main protagonist, the deity of winter. She was born as the goddess of moon, peace and strategy, the daughter of Emmera and Karma.
”Daughter of the primordial cosmic goddess Emmera and the [late] god of fate Karma. She is your cousin and a fellow traveler on your journey. For being the goddess of peace, she isn’t a very tranquil person, often resorting to violence at every inconvenience. She holds a calm aura whenever she’s around, a bit aloof and insensitive at times, though has a soft spot for loved ones.” - excerpt from the story’s blog
Greek Mythology
The immediate source of inspiration one should take a look at for Nyx, is the Greek goddess who holds the same name as her. Both of them are associated with the night, with Nyx being considered the very personification of the night, while the Tranquil Storm is the deity of the moon lighting the night sky.
The Tranquil Storm is also associated with peace and strategy. While Nyx herself may not have been explicitly associated with peace, one might be able to link her with it, along with strategy, if the symbolism of the night sky is taken into consideration:
The night sky itself works as a blanket to cover the light which might disrupt each creature’s rest and peaceful sleep, making it a symbol of peace and rest. (peace)
Under the night sky, there is an absence of light, providing ample cover for one who desires concealment of oneself to engage in nefarious intrigues. (strategy)
The night sky itself could be an indirect connection between these two, yet there are also major differences between them including the Tranquil Storm’s lineage and personality. Nyx is a cosmic primordial deity, the daughter of Chaos, mother to Hemmera (day), yet the Tranquil Storm is the daughter of a cosmic primordial deity, Emmera and the goddess of the Moon, Peace and Strategy.
If one were to use Nyx as a reference for the Tranquil Storm’s mythological comparison , there would be a multitude of problems that would arise considering the lack of myths featuring her as a protagonist or side character. She is only mentioned in passing through the mouths of other deities and chroniclers, as a figure who inspires both awe and fear even in the king of the Olympian Gods: Zeus. Thus, the need to look into the Greek deities of the moon, peace and strategy arises.
Being the goddess of the moon and peace doesn’t appear to influence the Tranquil Storm’s personality as much as one would expect. Her counterparts, Selene (the personification of the moon) and Eirene (the deity of peace) are portrayed as having a gentle, nurturing and calm nature, yet the Tranquil Storm is prone to violent tendencies and has an “aloof, insensitive and an aggressively protective personality” as would befit a goddess of war rather one of peace.
This duality between her powers/titles and personality might have been intentional. There is an obscure reference to Pausanias’s chronicles about the cult of Selene, the goddess of peace, where the administrative aspect, the punishments meted to troublemakers and the sacrificial rituals were described as violent, in stark contrast to how their goddess is portrayed. As for Eirene, her cult of peace was established after the Athenians won a naval battle against Sparta in 375 BC.
While Selene may be the moon incarnate, there are other deities associated with the moon which may have been conflated with her, namely Artemis. She is shown in numerous myths to have a protective nature towards the other nymphs and animals, and being the goddess of hunting, besides being associated with the moon, she usually resorted to aggressive and violent means to protect her loved ones.
On the other hand, Nyx the Tranquil Storm is also the patron goddess of strategy. She has to be rational and objective, casting her emotions aside and plan ahead, to make the best choices for the optimal strategy that will lead to the desired end results with as few trade-offs as possible. Someone of this disposition is bound to be seen as aloof, insensitive and devoid of emotion due to the responses she might give on even everyday conversation, similarly to how Athena, Zeus’s daughter was.
Egyptian Mythology
The Egyptian Pantheon is far more complex and greater in size than the Greek one. While there are myths featuring them as main or side characters, they aren’t really humanized as much as the Greek deities. There is always a tone of reverence and air of royal formality to them, taking care to show these deities as omnipotent and “divine” as possible, in stark contrast to the Greek mythology where the purpose of the narrators seems to be the humanizing of their pantheon.
The perfect match in terms of personality or nature, is without a shadow of a doubt, the moon god Khonsu. His epithets, amongst others, are: “The Defender” and “The Pathfinder” which could be seen as a reference to Nyx having a protective nature and her being the deity of strategy. His name was invoked for the protection of the night travelers from evil. Khonsu’s appearance is that of a youth, as he is depicted with the symbol of childhood, a sidelock hair which serves as a reference to Nyx’s younger brother, Samar, being the deity of childhood (more on him will be covered in the future). His mother was Nut, the deity of the skies and considered an enigma by mythology researchers due to her being the “Mother Sky” where in most mythologies there is a “Father Sky”. It could be an inspiration for Emmera being the deity of the unknown (more on her will be covered in the future)
Horus with the appearance of a falcon whose eyes are cleverly used as an element for the order of birth of Emmera’s (fictional) first two children: Sansone and Nyx. The Egyptian hieroglyphic texts were written and read from right to left and Horus’s eyes are depicted as the solar eye (on the right) and lunar eye (on the left), meaning: Sansone is the eldest and Nyx is the youngest of the two.
While there wasn’t really a concept of “Deity of Peace”, it’s worth noting that in Egypt peace equated justice, balance and order for which the kings were tasked with upholding. The falcon is usually seen as a symbol of kingship and divine protection. Thus, Horus and Thoth’s symbols of falcon head (Horus) and ibis head (Thoth) were believed to signify justice (Horus) and balance (Thoth).
Ending thoughts
Surprisingly, Nyx didn’t share as many similarities as I thought with Nyx the Greek deity of the night. As stated on “Despoina the Curios” chapter, the writer has been researching and diving deep in different mythologies, taking elements they like and using them either as references or molding them to their vision for the characters they have created. Due to word/character restrictions, this much will be submitted, but further expansion can be found here in the future.
I love the idea of dead gods. Not in the sense of “hey i killed something supernaturally strong” but in the sense of “i killed it and it’s still a god.” It is still worshipped. prayers are still answered. miracles are performed in its name, even as it lies pierced by a thousand swords and burning with chemical fire. even as it drifts through vacuum, decapitated and bleeding molten rock. in cosmic spite of being shot through each eye and hurled into a plasma reactor, it still radiates the power of the divine in a way that primitive death cannot smother. the nature of godhood is not so simple as to be tied to the mortality, or immortality, of any living being.
if you would describe how close you are to a demo realise in form of % how much?

I have some words written down, but I'm currently focused on finishing chapter 1 of my other IF (@cheerstotheelites-if) first before working on my other IF's. I don't want to overwhelm myself, since I'm also still busy with college.
What's a typical morning routine for a god like Ectorius?
Well, of course, this deity's gonna have a very long bath with scented oils while eating fruits like the king they are. Next would most likely be dress in whatever fit he's feeling, and put on paint over his eyes and upper lip. They would be out of their abode, checking up on his people, helping them with whatever problem if they can.
Their morning never ends without a visit to the small memorial he made for his closest friend, Eranthe. Greet it good morning and simply chat for a bit, as if they were talking to the late goddess of spring. It helps him grieve better, knowing that his dear friend is long gone but also in peace.
Each deity's temple must have their own prayer rituals. Can I ask who taught the first generation of priests long ago 👉👈
It's a debate among the gods (though it's really just Malkiel and Emmera, then some that got dragged in) on who taught the first ritual. Malkiel argue that it's him, since he's the first ever god created. Emmera argues back that it couldn't possibly be him since ever rarely does he leave his domain, while also denying the fact that Chi would ever interact with mortals, seeing how she left her own mortal creations behind as soon as they're a century old. The rest of the gods would simply agree with the former or latter., or argue that they're the one who taught the first ritual. While the goddess of Hell herself never gotten into nor joined these arguments, she did teach a human to play a lyre and sing though that was it.
The rest were up to time. The human used their newfound skill to praise the goddess that taught them, with small offerings on an altar as a sign of eternal gratitude. This person wasn't blessed in return with material things, but with fame as knowledge of their skill taught to them by a goddess soon begins to spread. It wasn't long until people were scrambling to be taught by this person and using their new skill to thank whatever god they're worshipping too. This soon reached to priests of temples, who had been using hours of prayer as a way of worship, now taking interest in this trend. Soon, they began to incorporate music into their worship mixed with the prayers alongside offerings, asking whatever deity they serve to answer their prayers.
You can say that Chi was the one who taught the first ritual, though it's more on she merely gave tools and humans simply decided what those tools' purpose will be.
Can the ROs and siblings recall a time when they went against your instincts and made a decision that surprised even them?
Yo, you might be new here and I hate to break it to you but Rabbit's (MC) siblings are... uh... dead, so I can't really tell you stuff about them because parts of Rabbit's deceased family will be discussed in the IF and the rest will be up to reader headcanon.
For the RO's... also spoiler-y. I also have scenes planned that will answer this question soon. Sorry, anon!! ╯︿╰;;;
