Not everything is about gender. People don't hate Saige because of her gender or being feminine-presenting. Pushing the 'misogynist' narrative on her and acting like white knights isn't even what Saige wants. People don't like her because of her personality. You call it 'being real' - some people have an issue with that. There's no right or wrong, she isn't going to appease every single viewer. But accusing people of disliking her because 'she's feminine presenting!11' does more harm than good

I explicitly said if you don’t like her in general I don’t care. If you have a problem with the way she unapologetically takes up space - which is a well known issue people have with feminine people - that dislike is coming from a misogynistic place.

calling this out, especially in a community with a history of misogynistic-hate, is in my opinion a very good idea and lots of people seem to agree.

I’m not one to normally engage like this but this is clearly a response to my post so here’s my peace

saige comes from a twitch/host/actor background - it took every single cast member time to adjust to the unique job of being a smosh cast member. After all, acting or hosting really has nothing to do with eating nasty sh!t.

if your complaints about saige are that she was not immediately perfect at being a cast member I genuinely ask you to have an ounce of sympathy for someone starting a new job (especially one with an already established way of doing things).

now if you think saige is a “bully” - which by the way I already think that word is overused and misused a lot - I am genuinely asking you why a company would keep someone around who was treating their coworkers badly, especially someone who is freelance.

you’re asking for examples where she’s not “bullying” but like show one example where she is… and maybe lookup the definition of bully cause I really believe it doesn’t apply here.

I genuinely have never felt more comfortable and included in a twitch community than I have with Saige and the batties. She is real - honest and tells it like it is which is so refreshing.

Feminine-presenting people are not allowed to be raw and real without criticism and being seen as aggressive or “looking for a fight”. We are socialized to silence ourselves and be what others want us to be.

If Saige isn’t your favorite smosh member that’s fine - I don’t really care. Trying to beat her down for her realness and refusal to stay quiet about things is a problem. Cause if she wasn’t feminine no one would be saying it.

I could ignore the hate but this feels personal to me as I feel so connected to her community and the challenges she faces even being on the internet.
