25,000 people started to arrive for a three-day rock festival called Sound Storm to experience something heavy, and something heavenly. Loud music echoed off the hillside as LSD and pot floated through the crowd. It was the height of the anti-establishment, hippie movement in Wisconsin

Bob Pulling, who was in the crowd taking pictures, said Jerry Garcia and the Dead were supposed to play for 90 minutes, but played for five hours.

"One of the guys from the Dead told a roadie to get a couple cases of pop," Pulling said. "He got out a vial of LSD (and mixed it) and he handed it out to everybody."

'Everybody was tripped for the whole weekend'
