“Ye’r a child.” Tone flat, he frowned at the younger girl. “Doesn’t matter ta’ me whether or not ye’r considered an adult in the human world-doesn’t matter because compared to me, ye’r a kid, Maka.”

“I’mma ground ya if ya don’t stop yer shit, Maka.” He gave her a half hearted glare, flicking her hand away from his face.

Lifts up on her toes so she can put her head on his shoulder. Still too short so it's just resting on the side of his arm.

Wraps his arm around her and pulls Miki closer to his chest with a private smile-secretly glad of her presence.

Thin lips contorted into a grimace and he leaned forward, resting his chin on the scrawny arrancar’s shoulder. “Ya know,” the visored drawled, one hand gripping his hip. “I like guys. I like pretty guys. And, on some occasions, I even like arrancar. But.” His tongue clicked on the t moments before he dumped Luppi to the floor and stood, brushing off his tight-fitting jeans. 

“Ye’r gonna have ta try a lot harder’n that, espada.”

“Oi.” Lithe arms wrapped around Renji’s waist and pulled him back hard against his own bony frame. “What’s this now, Abarai-kun? Didn’t think ya much fer the lap sittin’ type.” Though he certainly wasn’t complaining.

He giggled. There was no other word for the sound the captain made as he sat down on the desk behind him and drew his legs up as well. “And just what are ya gonna do with me, Mashiro?” Shinji teased, not looking at all perturbed.

“Sure~” she nodded laughing when he stooped over to rest his head on her shoulder. Lifting a hand she patted the top of his head sympathetically. Jazz music didn’t bother her that much, certainly not during a meal. It made nice background noise. 

She returned his kiss with equal sweetness, giggling softly when he nuzzled his nose into her. In some ways he reminded her of a puppy. “What would you like to eat?” 

His pout intensified when she touched his head, milking it for all it was worth. This was nice. He liked when Miki doted on him, more than he cared to admit. “I get to pick the record,” he went on, fighting back a grin to keep the act going. She had that effect on him-and managed to cheer him up just by talking to him, most of the time. 

“Whatever ya want. I’m not picky,” Shinji lied. He was, in fact, an incredibly picky eater. Something anyone who had ever spent any time with him knew.

He hadn’t expected to find ichigo like this. When he’d asked Kisuke where the younger visored was, he’d expected the answer to be at school or fighting everyone within a ten mile radius to get stronger. He hadn’t expected the answer to be at home. 

But he’d gone anyway, finding himself balancing on Ichigo’s window with insults and shrewd remarks at the tip of his tongue....only to swallow them back when he saw his former student. 

His head tipped to the side like an inquisitive cat’s as he hopped down to the floor, dressed in his human-world clothes of tight fitting jeans and a button-down black shirt, complete with striped tie. “Ichigo.” The greeting was slow and hesitant and he looked the boy over for injury or harm. 

“Didn’t think ya even knew what a bed was, with how I’ve never even seen ya take a break,” he attempted jokingly.
