Reyhan was the result of a Moroi woman and a human man's relationship. Her mother had fallen in love with a human, which was frowned upon by her family. And yet, for the first time in her life, she considered herself in love and was unwilling to throw it away simply because it was not what her family had wished for her.
Initially, Reyhan's mother kept her vampiric side hidden from her beloved. She'd tell him she had a sun allergy and extremely sensitive skin. He was so in love with her that he believed everything she said. She'd leave in the middle of the night and return with a ridiculous explanation. She had a night job, she'd say, as a nurse at a nearby hospital who only took night shifts. He had his doubts, but he never bothered to investigate further.
After three years of dating, he proposed to her and they married. Reyhan was born soon after. The young family was content until one fateful day. He'd decided to accompany his wife on one of her nightly strolls for a change. He was led to a small, abandoned building, where he saw something he would never forget. He discovered the truth about his wife and how she had been deceiving him for years.
Out of fear, he would pack his belongings and leave the house they shared that night, taking Reyhan with him. He didn't want to hear anything else about his wife. He was perplexed and terrified of her. He had dismissed vampires as a work of fiction, fantasy creatures popularized by Hollywood.
He had to wait another five years before seeing his wife again. It was in a grocery store, and their time apart had softened him. He was finding it easier to deal with what had happened. He was open to hearing her explanation. She told him she was a Moroi and that she had never meant him any harm, and that she truly loved him. She also told him about Reyhan: she was a Dhampir, and she should be raised with others like her.
For the sake of their daughter, they decided to give their marriage another chance. Unfortunately, the second opportunity was squandered. One day, while Reyhan's father was at work, Strigoi broke into their home and murdered Reyhan's mother. She had managed to hide Reyhan in the closet just moments before her death. When Reyhan's father returned home later that day, he discovered his wife's lifeless body. Fearful of the events, he abandoned their home once more and moved away with his daughter, hoping to start a new life in a foreign country.
For a long time, Reyhan went to a regular human school, where she always felt different from the other students. And she was perfectly aware of the reason, but her father could only do so much. He had never met his late wife's family and was attempting to raise a Dhampir on his own. It was pure chance that Reyhan ran into a Moroi at a high school party. The Moroi assisted her in better understanding her nature and even informed her of Acadia Academy. Reyhan enrolled at Acadia as soon as she graduated from high school.
----- A small blurb, regarding her personality: she’s a tiny bit inspired by Rose Hathaway from the VA series :P She’s very headstrong, short-tempered and impulsive. She loves partying, drinking and boys. Reyhan is a bit of a know-it-all who thinks highly of herself and her fighting/weapon skills. She has a bit of maturing to do. She also harbors deep resentment for Strigoi as a result of what they did to her mother.
